My biggest concern is Oline. I cannot believe they barely addressed this.

The division was winnable last year and… we did not

I really am not excited about the NFL anymore in general.

Gambling aspect really has polluted all sports and it’s all rigged to hell.

Lastly, 18’ No Call team was the closest this organization will ever sniff a trip to the SB again.

Why get excited when you know you’re just going to get fricked in the end even if you get close to that point again?

You’re either a moron, or you’re delusional if you can’t see that this roster blows. We’re in a seemingly perpetual cycle of mediocrity right now. We need some big stroke of luck to change it and break the cycle like when we signed Drew Brees.

“Well for one we have one of the worst statistical head coaches in NFL history”

A very fair point. But we also have a defense—which is undeniably talented—being run by a good defensive coach, and there is at least a reasonable basis for believing that our offensive coaching and scheme will improve significantly.

Bad o-line + injured/old d-line = bad team

Championships are won in the trenches, and this Saints team will likely sport the worst o-line in the league. D-line could be good, but it requires a lot of production from frequently injured players.

you can coach around maybe one weak link on the offensive line but a few? That's tough.

Penning doesn't sound like he's turning a corner at camp so far. Just looks and like a guy who isn't confident enough in pass blocking.

and we'll never know how good the pass rush is on defense if the Saints are playing more from behind in games. That's one of the reasons the Saints rush defense has taken a few steps back the last few years.

Some of it is personnel but I'd say it's mostly due to the flow of the game.

I would still say that Tampa is the team to beat in the South. I don't know what the magic number should be to win the South this year, but I'd guess 9 again? And I'm not really sure if the Saints can do that again. They'll need to catch a few breaks like last year with turnovers but that is hard to count on again in back-to-back years. The were +11 in the turnover margin last year. Think about that.

The only thing I'm excited about is Kubiak.

He is legit.

Because this is a .500 team tethered to a bad lazy QB with no hope to spend trade or draft our way out

This division is very winnable.

A lot of fans think what's the point. Even if they make the playoffs they are not making a run towards the NFC championship.

It's probably better for the organization to rip the band aid off, get a good draft pick, and begin purging the older players.

Competly disagree Here. Carr could not score inside the 20 last year. He got us to the 20 but could never get across the goal line.
Some of that might have had to do with the play caller PCM.

I would put Taytay in across the 20 going forward.

Why the gloom you ask ??

Saints might win the division at 9&8 … who knows & who cares…
The truth is when you view Saints personnel (players and even administration in relation to entire NFL) …. the Saints need a rebuild and that takes many years to complete.

What good is a playoff birth if you have no chance of winning even 1 game.

Question you need to ask yourself…. forget the division… but how do Saints stack up to all teams in the NFL.

The Truth: we need a rebuild

This team has some nice pieces but isn't built like a contender. Bad O-line, aging RBs and defense and one of the worst coaches in the league.

This group had the easiest schedule in the NFL and still missed the playoffs.

Plus it is right to be skeptical of Gayle making changes (firing Loomis/Allen) when this team does underacheive..

Why all the doom and gloom?

Mostly because the offensive line sucks.
