why all the doom and gloom?

This division is very winnable.
There is young talent on this team at every level.
New OC with innovative scheme who is HC in waiting.
Defense is stacked.
Carr is not Mahomes but Im saying he has a career year.
Last year we easily could have won the division with Muskrat Pete calling plays.

Old defense with no pass rusher to hang your hat on, slow RBs who are pushing 30, shaheed only home run hitter, Crappy o line, average qb.
This team just isn’t built like an actual contender is and the wheels are more likely to come all the way off than us actually be a contender.

Defense isn’t really old outside of DD and Honey Badger. I don’t think anyone is counting on Cam anymore.
Granderson is solid, and when Chase came out of college, he was being compared to LT. Most draft experts thought he should have been taken over Burrow. He has the talent to be a force, so we will see. Not expecting much out of Fosky or Turner.
Carr can be a very good qb. It’s always about how much pressure in the pocket he gets. Always has been the deal with him. When he has time, he’s as good as anyone outside of Mahomes and maybe a couple others. You saw the difference last year once Peat was inserted into LT and Penning wasn’t getting him killed.
This team will be as good as the oline can be. It’s the biggest question.,

Old defense? Cam is literally the only person you can make that argument about and we replaced him with Chase Young who is a star in camp so far
What does age have to do with anything when they can play? Didn’t you also say all pro Simmons was old and useless?

Well for one we have one of the worst statistical head coaches in NFL history

Offensive line was atricious last season, and nothing we have done gives any indication it will be better. Now a function of that may have been playcalling. The lack of creativity and the predictability of what Carmichael was going to call gave a huge advantage to defenses which made a bad line look worse. Maybe Kubiack comes in and calls better plays which helps take them from bad to average which should help Carr and Kamara, but that remains to be seen.
Still don't think we make the playoffs, but don't think we are a <5 win team.

DA was at the coach's meetings this year looking at Gannon & Eberflus
Looking at Morris (w/ A Rod back he won't catch Saleh) like

WTF you do know they drafted Taliese Fuaga right?

Same team from last year, Saints didn't make any improvements on the roster. It will be a disaster for this organization this year. We need a GM and HC in 25.

It seems very unlikely the Saints could reach the playoffs as a WC. But (on paper) there isn't a dominant NFC South team. Tampa wasn't very good last year. They just got hot late. But I'm still not sold on them being able to pick up where they left off. Atlanta arguably has the best overall roster. But they did nothing to improve the defensive personnel and they have they own version of Carr in Cousins. A guy capable of big moments and big games. But one who has never been able to carry a team for long stretches. Carolina still feels like a mess with a QB that may just be too little to have great success.
No one is thinking the Saints are a NFC championship contender. But they are probably good enough to win the division if things break well.

lol?
Roster with an extreme lack of talent with an aging Defense, a slightly above average QB making a ton of money, and the league's worst Head Coach.
Last year they had the easiest record in the league and were mediocre. This year's schedule is much harder, and they basically made no roster improvements, only coaching change.

Why only post the good things?

I've said in other threads, I am hopefully optimistic that this is by design. They didn't go crash the market for that "1 missing piece" this offseason and appeared to be very strategic with some of their restructures. Could this be a sign of reality setting in and they are trying to purge some of these larger & aging contracts? Can't pull the plug all at once because of the voided years built into damn near every contract.
If this is the beginning of the purge, I wouldn't expect a new HC until 2026 at the earliest. No idea when we'll see a new GM, not holding my breath on that one

Do y'all remember this poster before last season, the guy was adamant the saints would win the south and make the playoffs. Anyone who disagreed with him was a low IQ, idiot. I think the dumb a-hole even made a bet with another poster for a couple hundred bucks that he welched on.
Who was that guy? Is he still around?

If we kept DA for two more years I believe we would lose more talent than we wish.

If it results in a cap reset and purging a lot of these overpaid contracts, I think it would be worth it.

How have teams that have the single worst head coach and the worst offensive line in the league faired in the past?

Win the division at 8-8, lose the wildcard game (again), get stuck with another nothing draft pick and wash/winse/repeat next season with a harder schedule and the same coaching staff.
Welcome to the 1980's.
