Who would you actually like the Saints to roll with after Brees?

This has been a debate for a few years now. Brees has continued to play at an elite level so we really haven't had to address the QB of the future situation. But it feels like we gotta figure it out soon. I've been wanting them to target a few QBs through the years (Dak, Petty, Lynch, Hogan, Mahomes, Kaaya, Webb, Peterman). I know Payton said the heir to Brees's throne is already on the team (Hill) but its fun to see who fans would want. Who would yall like to see take Brees's place once he calls it a career? I'm just gonna throw out a few names. Some are from FA and some are from the draft (2018, 2019, and even 2020).
Taysom Hill
Teddy Bridgewater
Jacoby Brissett
Kirk Cousins
Brett Hundley
Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State (2018 draft)
Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma (2018 draft)
Luke Falk, Washington State (2018 draft)
Jarrett Stidham, Auburn (2018/2019 draft)
Kelly Bryant, Clemson (2019 draft)
Clayton Thorson, Northwestern State (2019 draft)
Deondre Francois, Florida State (2019 draft)
Shea Patterson, Michigan (2019 draft)
Jake Betley, South Carolina (2019 draft)
Quinton Flowers, South Florida (2019 draft)
Chase Litton, Marshall (2019 draft)
Kyler Murray, Oklahoma (2019 draft)
Kellen Mond, Texas A&M (2020 draft)
Jake Fromm, Georgia (2020 draft)
Josh Jackson, Virginia Tech (2020 draft)
Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State (2020 draft)

Baker Mayfield FTW

He and Payton would be the most arrogant/douchey QB/Coach combo in the league, it would be awesome

that being said, I would want him to sit for 2 years behind Drew

maybe so, but the thread is asking who we would want, not how we think it is going to play out

Agree completely.
Alot of people compare Mayfield to Manziel but I liken him more to a mix of Wilson and Brees. Has the ability to extend plays and make plays with his legs like Wilson, while also being able to throw accurate passes and be a leader on the field like Brees. Not to mention he's undersized. I think Brees would be the perfect QB for Mayfield to sit behind for a season or two. Sadly, I expect a team like the Chargers or Cardinals to take him in the middle of the first.

Giants will most likely have the second pick and I don't see them reaching for Mayfield when Josh Rosen is there. Only way the Giants take him there ahead of Rosen would be if Mayfield dominates UGA and Clemson/Alabama. I don't see Mayfield falling past the Chargers at that pick 17-24 range.

And how do you expect the Saints to get him when we’re picking 28-32?

I believe in Taysom Hill

Imagine him and Kamara running an option

Cousins is in there.
Keenum is finding success this year but he's a journeyman QB. I wouldn't make him a franchise QB.
Thought about putting Bradford but he's 30.
Eli? Lol what
Thought about putting Bortles because I think he still has potential to be a really good QB, especially under Payton. But based on the last few games, I expect Jacksonville to keep him around for the future.

I would've thrown in Jimmy G but he's finding success in San Fran.

We could always trade up.
But this just ideas. Trying to generate a discussion of names we could look at. I expect Mayfield to be gone by the time the Saints draft but I'd love to be able to get him.

I hope we are picking 32, that doesn't mean we can't trade

but like I said in a previous post, the OP asks who we want, not who we think we will get

I'm in the minority on this but I believe he's gonna be a bust. I can see where people love him (big arm, running ability, character) but when I watch him, he seems reckless and seems like he anticipates a breakdown in the pocket before it actually does breakdown. He's also very thin which is probably why he's not higher up on boards. Another thing that sticks out to me is how much he struggled against LSU in the Citrus bowl last year. I see the comparison between him and Vick but I think Vick was a much more polished passer. I think Jackson would have more success at WR, bc of his speed and size.

But you believe all 21 of the quarterbacks will not be? Why not just edit and list him as an option? You named just about every other QB you could think of. Lol

TAYSOM HILL

I was just throwing a few names of guys I've watched and really like. I could be completely wrong about Jackson but I see him being a bust. He's electric, he's got the stats, and the hardware to warrant some success in the NFL but I see NFL defenses demolishing him.
