Keenum is finding success this year but he's a journeyman QB. I wouldn't make him a franchise QB.

I am in no way saying Keenum is on Brees’ level. But Keenum is in his gift year which is the same year for Brees that he came to the Saints. Brees rotates starts with Doug Flutie for four years, then the Chargers drafted Rivers and let Brees walk. I think Keenum is in that same part of his career where he is turning the corner to be a solid NFL QB. Not an all pro. Not a hall of gamer. But a good solid NFL QB.

IMHO

His replacement is still in high school.

I look at McCarron as a back up in the league. I can see you're an Alabama fan so of course you're gonna cheer him on but honestly, he's never crossed my mind on this list. He reminds me alot of a Jon Kitna. Plays for the Bengals, comes in for the injured starting QB during the season, gets the team to playoffs but loses in the first round, gets a starting QB contract from some team after that season, amounts to nothing.

I liked him a hell of alot but I knew there was no way he was gonna be there. Plus the Saints were in a 'win-now' mode so if they had to choose between Watson or Lattimore, they'd go with Lattimore. The only exception to this 'win-now' mode may have been Mahomes IMO because Payton publicly stated that he wanted him.

Baker Mayfield or Mason Rudolph in this year’s class. Jarrett Stidham next year.

he basically won a playoff game already if his RB didn't fumble the ball with 2 minutes left and gift the game to the Steelers

Don't be surprised if the Saints make some kind of mega trade to jump into the top 3 picks for this draft. Especially if Brees commands something like a $30 million contract.

Intriguing option. He is a "Brees" type qb (high compl %) with a bigger frame and stronger arm. He'll be 30 in August and could be a very good option for 5 or more years. He would thrive in SP's system.

Legit question: Do you pay Brees $$$ for the next 1-2 yrs, or do you pay Cousins the same/slightly less for next 5-6 years? Keep the Who Dat machine rolling.

You could say the same about Andy Dalton year after next...and for WAAAY less $$$. He'd love playing closer to home, I'm sure.

Sam Bradford is the best option in this thread, assuming Payton sticks around.
