I love this Davenport pick and I think he will be beast and help us win a Super Bowl, but when do y’all think we are going to address the QB now? No first round pick next year.

Ride Drew to 2 straight SB's then we can use our cap room to sign a "Cousins" type QB who is just looking for 1 year deals. We should try to find a vet QB to keep the train going until we have to do a complete rebuild (or strike gold with a late 1st round QB).

This team is young. The chance to get a QB to "develop" under Drew was Mahomes last year. We should be all in on building depth on the oline and adding young talent to the defense now. Solidifying those two units will make the post drew transition much, much easier.

We all thought CSP was joking when he said Drew Brees successor was in the building..He clearly wasn't. Taysom Hill baby! CSP knows something we don't about this guy..another two years under Drew as well!? Come on now!

Go get Nick Foles and let Payton work his magic on him in the next few years.

I said this a few months ago. Eagles are 100% moving on from him after this season and he is only 29.

Yep.

He's the type of bridge QB that can keep our momentum rolling. We just need to have the right pieces around him.

Well considering draft isn't over they could still address it this year. The chances now of hitting on one outside of the 1st round are smaller but who knows if a guy like Lauletta, Rudolph, Falk, or White can come in and develop into the next guy up.

Quarterbacks like Russell Wilson(3rd), Dak Prescott(4th), and Tom Brady(6th) were found later. At the same time it is just a gamble and more often than not you end up with a bunch of Garrett Graysons.

Drew Lock. Will be a late first to early 2nd round draft pick next year. Hope we can draft up to get him. Will have one year to learn under Brees.

Will be interesting to watch him in preseason. Very athletic and good accuracy on short and mid range passes but has injury history and not a very good arm deep. I know people say that about Brees, but Brees actually has a good deep arm, TH does not at all.

Maybe we can get Brett Hundley too. That way we can complete the Joe Callahan, Taysom Hill, and Hundley trifecta of rejected GB QB's

yeah, this is what has me a little shaken here

We are betting a lot on this pick. If Brees were to fall off a cliff or retire, we don't have what we would need to replace him for at least 2 years. If we can win a SB I guess it won't matter, but now we are for sure banking on Brees playing to 41 at least..

I like the pick itself, I just don't know how I feel about the trade

Just bring Manziel into camp this year and let Brees slap him around a little bit. Can help both parties in the long run. Plus, we can see how good CSP is at developing quarterbacks. I know I am gonna get bashed for this, but that’s ok. Kid has talent, just issues. Maybe he has been humbled by all of what has happened to him.

Why would Aaron Rodgers not sign with the Saints when his contract is up in GB?

If we win 2 straight Super Bowls I could take a few years of not being revelant before drafting another franchise QB lol

You know there are lots of quality QB's out there. Look at the guy who was behind Tom Brady in New England. He just went to SF and is lighting it up. I guess we will see how he does this coming season. I wasn't a huge Lamar Jackson nor Sam Darnold fan. I would have liked Josh Rosen or Baker Mayfield. Anyway we passed on all of them. No worries. QB's will always be available. I guess we will just have to chill out and trust the coaching staff and general manager.

I'm not asking to be a smartass, I enjoy your posts.

But why are you (and a lot of Saints fans) so hung up on getting "the next" QB when we are so close to appearing in a Super Bowl?

Why wouldn't you want to spend all energy on improving the team?

If the Saints win a Super Bowl in 2019, and go 7-9 in 2021, I'm good with that.

I know we will be contenders next year and probably the year after that. But winning a Super bowl is hard and if we don’t win another one with drew and he retires after 2020, I don’t want to have journeymen QBs coming in and out of Nola with us going 8-8 or worse for the next 7-10 years. Like I said, if we win another one, then that would be more tolerable.

But believe me, I’m going to enjoy the next couple years and try not to take it for granted.
