he's older than the average NFL draft prospect and comes from a questionable offense

Old + injury. Now it looks like starters are set. A big ask to use a 2nd on a backup.

Edit: He's absolutely good enough to be a starter in 2-3 years. But do you want your young starter to be 29, and maybe only give you 5 years?

Derek carr will be here a few years. Hooker is 25. Unless he falls to the 4 or 5 we probably won’t do it. Too much value out there still.

I actually meant for ANY NFL team....

I did not know he was 25 years old.

He’s old and raw, not a good combo for a QB

he may be, but he's coming off a significant injury, and he's older... not something that we need to use precious draft capital at, with as many holes that we have

Way too many on this board wanted the Saints to pick him with their 2nd. Sad.

take a chance on DTR in later rounds.

frick it.

Hooker most likely won't play this season.

I'd rather pick a QB that will get the full amount of reps in OTA's, training camp, and the preseason.

Not guaranteed with Hooker.

Drafted by the lions. A good situation for him. He can heal and compete with Jared Goff for the starting spot.

Hooker is old, injured, and played in a gimmick offense

He’ll be lucky to be a career backup

No, he isn't.

He's an over-aged prospect that can't read defenses. Beat up guys 2 years removed from high school as a 23 and 24 year old playing QB.

It's not just age and injury. Tennessee's offense is a one-read system. The QB looks for the designated receiver on each pass play and if he is not open, then the QB takes off. Every once in a while he will make a second read, but mostly it's just pass to one guy or take off running. NFL quarterbacks have to make 4-5 reads every pass play in about half the time. No one knows if he can read a defense because he's never really been asked to do it.

Most college QB's only make 2 reads per play anyway, maybe 3 in a crunch. This is why most QB's bust: they have to double their reads in half the time. College QB's are never asked to do what NFL QB's must do, so you never really know who can do it and who cannot. That's also how a Brock Purdy lasts till the 7th round. Who knew he could successfully read an NFL defense; he never had to do it in college.
