What was the point of this interierm coach winning some games? Now we dont have a top 10

Pick. We have no tradeable assets. Cap space is poo. Why do we keep going 6-9, 8-8, 7-9?

Kind of the same reason we are keeping Mickey Loomis there is actually no point. He is reason why the Saints are in this predicament in the first place. Until Gayle understands how to be an NFL owner we will keep trending downward.

Nobody really worth a top pick this year anyways, I know everyone wants a rebuild but the rebuild doesn’t start until complete destruction lol. That’s next year when the team wins 3 games

The appeal to me to having a really high pick was the ability to gain an extra first or so from whoever falls for the QBs.

I just don’t understand how people can’t grasp that tanking is a fan dream and these players and coaches have no interest in tanking for draft picks they won’t be a part of.
Also talent can be found in all 7 rounds of the draft. The Saints need to focus on the right players regardless of where they are picking.

Still doesn't rectify winning this year to frick up draft position. If you get a top 10 in 2025, trade back for more 2026 picks to stockpile.

Fist off... Uh, did you just get here? Or, did you just now realize wins/losses affect draft position? Secondly, tanking only happens maybe at the GM/roster level in the NFL. Recall Miami traded away everyone they could in the tank for Tua. We traded Lattimore. Could argue we should've traded Kamara or any other vet, but for most there'd be little return and the cap hit comes due all at once if a player is traded, which we can't handle. Third, you can't ask players and coaches to lose in the NFL - many may not get another shot.

Because letting a losing mentality sink in is far more detrimental to an organization than any unproven rookie can possibly offset.
Plus with betting being legal, it’s pretty much illegal to fix games.
Also, individual players who have actual NFL careers to think about (as opposed to college players who HOPE to catch on in the NFL) aren’t going to tank their employment prospects for next season for the sake of a chance at playing next year (assume they don’t get fired in the offseason) with some unproven college kid.
And do you think the coaching staff is going to seal its fate as an interim staff by tanking so that their replacements get to coach a top 10 pick?

yup which was ASININE and short sighted. sure nobody wants to pull for your team to lose but we are in such a bind. a multi year rebuild if youa re notr a contender you need to tank for the highest pick possible.
clowns here love being stuck in NFL hell right in between.
this type of rebuild(trade all vets possible for picks, dump expensive players, stack picks, sign practice squad guys to save $$$ for now, rebuild through drfat) has been done many times in the NBA and NHL. do not tell me it cannot work in the NFL.
