How can he be punished if there's not even a criminal investigation against him?

Potential sexual assault

The victim has a civil suit against him.

And the text messages that were made public about threats to one of the girls.

Technically the league shouldn’t suspend him until their investigation is complete unless the potential crimes are egregious (think Pats TE) or he’s been arrested. Which he hasn’t.

He has a legit shot to appeal until the league can offer proof.

So rape is not egregious?

But you do bring up a good point, why should allegations alone be grounds for suspension. And is that policy uniformly adhered to?

how are they going to prove rape when law enforcement isn't even looking into it?

NBC Sports

Threatening a woman who hadn’t made an attempt to recoup the money she alleges he owed her for working on a painting until he propositioned her while naked? A woman who only wanted to be left alone? Send a text that not only insults and threatens her but promises you’ll be having your henchmen climb into her life? And then include a picture of her children?

That, I’m told by a source, is why Antonio Brown is gone. The texts were a bridge too far for all the organization’s decision-makers. Because of that, I’m told, the decision was made that he had to go.

Read what the response was to. I wasn't saying anything about prove regarding rape. I was responding to an assertion that the NFL would only suspend someone without a concluded investigation if the underlying charge was of an egregious nature implying what AB is alleged to have done isn't.

Seems like the NFLPA would be all over the NFL if they place him on the exempt list based off allegations alone. Not that they care about AB but could set a precedent for the future. Real similar to the Zeke situation where they stepped in.

Its not based just on allegations. He threatened his accuser and tried to have someone dig up dirt on her.

I mean i get feeling like that if you really feel like someone is trying to extort you. But dont put it in writing

Having said that it feels like the NFL is not even attempting to resolve this.
