Nick Foles signed a 4 year, 88 million contract to start for the Jags. If I am Teddy's agent, this is the starting point.

Nick Foles won a Super Bowl.

Teddy will get 12-15 million for 3 years if someone believes he's their starter. That number goes up if there are multiple suitors.

I think if the Saints can't resign drew (he desmans 30 million) or he retires that's the deal he's offered by Mickey.

12-15 million a year gets you a replacement level QB like Case Keenum. Teddy is getting starter money. This ain't 5 years ago where a middle of the road starter could be had for 10 million.

Maybe you should have did your homework and see that Keenum is getting 3.5 million.

Go look at keenum's contract he signed after leaving minny.

As for teddy, his 5 game stretch statistically is better than any of roles in Philly. Wouldn't be surprised if someone saw teddy and think he could be a viable starter for I can see 3/60 with 30mil guaranteed

Do people not watch games? Teddy is average and a fine backup but we have won most of these games despite him. He doesn’t make mistakes, which is a huge plus, but he also doesn’t make a lot of plays.

This may be semantics but saying you won despite him really insinuates he was a negative, but you also said he was average. I don't think we're winning despite him. You could definitely say he's not winning games for us, he's just not losing games for us also.

If someone wants to pay him 20 million a year, let them.
In fairness, i believe $20mil is roughly the market rate for an average QB, which you said Teddy is.

If Brees were to up and retire after this season, I just don't know off the top of my head what a realistic scenario is with a better option than Teddy on a 2 year deal at an avg QB salary, which is in that $20mil range.

Bunch I think shel was the only one that said we had to re-sign him
Well, let's make sure we understand the context.

I said we should resign him based on a post that posed the hypothetical of Brees being done. You not adding that kinda skews your post.

But if no Brees next season, I'd be interested to learn from you what the better options are.

Too many unknowns at this point.

Teddy is only taking a 2 year deal if the market dries up. His stock will never be higher and after nearly losing his leg, he isn't going to keep playing on 1 and 2 year contracts.

So take a gamble on a rookie QB that may be average-above average a couple of years for now---or keep the average-above average guy we already have on our team, who our head coach likes, and who has been in our system for what 3yrs now?

I get it--- an unknow rookie is much sexier than the "known" of Teddy two gloves but we are trying to win. If we have a guy we can win with just keep this thang going until we NEED to move on.

It isn't unknown rookie vs Teddy. It is Teddy vs how much longer Brees wants to play. If Brees retires at end of season, no questions asked, you resign Teddy. If he plays another year or two, Teddy cashes in and signs big contract somewhere else.

I feel like if Brees has a year or two left he will head out to FA and that’s fair. He can easily get a 2-3 year deal for $15-20 mil.
