Did we use a TE to help the second half? Or did he play the pass better?

They gave him some help, but he also helped himself a little bit.

Bad news is he gets Brian burns next week who could be a major headache. Hope he steps up.

Agreed. He played much better in second half. Wasn’t perfect, but a lot better. He’s a work in progress.

Chipped with a TE and sometimes helped with a back. He improved but still has a very long way to go.

yeah, he really hasn't played that many games up to this point.

and to be fair, not all of the pressure that was put on Carr was his fault.

Carolina has some pieces on their D-line that will present another tough challenge.

It was a chain reaction. Once he started to falter the guard started to try and help, which put pressure on the C.

We fix the LT spot and the pass protection increases dramatically.

Run blocking, which was awful, is another story.

As far as run blocking, that was probably our toughest assignment all year.

Williams missed some holes and lacks burst. Feel like we missed some opps there

Yeah I mean Williams is a clear number 2 back and more short yardage guy. I didn’t expect more than what he did honestly.

Sitting in the endzone, I definitely noticed some holes that were not taken. Worst was Jones on one where he bounced to the outside. He picked up a first I think but he could have cut in for a huge gain.

Yeah. They are stout in the middle. Arden Key looking like an all pro was concerning. He was even getting in on run support.

He’s a short yardage guy, for sure. I wonder what we look like with miller, who has a bit more arse than Kamara for inside runs. Still, not a lot of space, but some of that can be attributed to Williams.

We helped quite a bit with chipping and leaving the RB in to help out Penning. Its not a recipe for success to have to leave your check down back in to constantly help Penning. As others have said I just see him more as a guard, especially in pass pro. Think they would be better off moving Hurst back out to tackle and using Penning/Peat at guard.

Carr was holding on to the ball too long in the 2nd quarter and not stepping up in the pocket

Did you watch the game? He had no time to step up. This is a horrible take.

With Penning I think it might actually be best to give him a baptism by fire for the first month of the season. Either he will get it together in a hurry or become a bust, which in that case you put Peat back in ( ) and kick Hurst out to LT.

that was only Penning's 8th game he's played.

And I wonder how many starts that yesterday's bunch has had combined together.

That isn't something I think we can totally just dismiss.

He had a lot of help from the left guard.

saw on Twitter/X today that on 2 of the biggest plays of the game that helped secure the win... on 1 he got some help from Foster Moreau (I think that helped set up a 3rd & short late) and on the other (the long gainer down the sideline to Shaheed on 3rd down) he got a chip (and that's saying it nicely b/c it wasn't a lot) from Taysom Hill
