They definitely drafted werner because baun wasn't picking it up

Demario Davis was the only returning starting LB heading into 2021. Kwon and Anzalone were gone. They drafted Werner bc he was a 4 year college LB from a premier school with NFL ready size skill and knowledge. I mean this isn’t difficult. He was drafted to replace a positionless Baun who played 82 snaps the year prior

What about Ruiz? There’s an entire season worth of film that shows him getting treated like a turnstile.

What about him? Lot of bad tape on Ruiz. However still very young and playing out of position. Will be a make or break year under Marrone. Hopefully gets a shot at full time center to really see what we have with him.

And as for Baun…the dude can’t even sniff playing time and it’s not because of the great competition ahead of him.

Which of Davis, Kwon or Werner was he supposed to beat out? Davis played 93% of the defensive snaps and Kwon/Werner combined for 83% at the other spot. Baun and Ellis filled in the gaps.

I’d love for you or chalky to break down exactly how he is supposed to used in the confines of Allen’s championship caliber defenses of ‘20 and ‘21. And least then we can move on and keep a close eye on Baun heading into next season

You answered your own question… that’s what about him

You come make a post every day crying about Payton. These guys haven’t been in the league long enough to say whether any of them will pan out.

Trey Hendrickson didn’t become an elite pass rusher until his 4th year.

Complaining about a 7th round draft pick is pretty embarrassing.

You can absolutely judge this class at the end of their second year in the league.

Yeah, if you want to look foolish. Judging players when they have had one offseason in the NFL is absurd. Unless somebody is elite they usually don’t take off until their third or fourth year. Hell even the elite players don’t sometimes.

Our former coach who quit on the team wasting a pick to play a joke on a friend was far more embarrassing.

Dude come the frick on with this crap. The homerism is so strong it’s nauseating.

Name something Ruiz has done to give you hope he’ll develop. Name something Baun has done.

I even said Trautman was figuring it out and then he got hurt, but earlier in the season he was way over his head.

And Stevens…LOL. Wasting picks to clown a former assistant is fun. Could have rolled the dice and picked a Colston or Strief, but we’ll never know because Payton was throwing a fit during the draft.

Searching for your Stephone Anthony thread, I came across one of you saying you gotta give a draft 3-4 years now saying that is homerism

Pretty ironic based on your current stance

PS your thread starting on this board is an abomination of overreactions and bad takes

You’re standing up for Ruiz after two years of terrible play. I knighted for Anthony after a solid rookie season. And I was wrong. Much like you are about Ruiz.

Also that 41-5 upvote to downvote ratio makes it seem like I was on to something.

And yet they go multiple pages because people like you just flock to them. Ignore them if they’re so bad. But y’all can’t help yourselves.

What killed the team was holding on to Brees for too long

If we just consider players on Offense and we evaluate CSP's draft picks based on that, I often wonder whether he was able to demonstrate any truly great insight and skill for drafting talent.

CSP was sort of a protege of Bill Parcells, but, IMHO, CSP was no Bill Parcells. Never was. Never will be at that level.

And didn’t we trade up to get Baun?

You're missing the point.

If baun showed anything at all you don't need to draft Werner.

As you said you already have kwon at a 5 mil salary.

Ruiz actually got on the field and can "play" two positions.

He will be a backup at the very least. Baun is just absolutely lost as a weak or middle linebacker in a 4 man front.

There is a reason they drafted werner a year after drafting baun.

You don't want to have to pay 2 linebackers good money in demario and kwon. Werner should take over full time next year.

Kwon would have to take less money to come back.

Trade up to get Baun? I don't know, but, CSP's skill is in the Offense, so I don't know how much influence he had on Defensive player acquisitions.

No you don’t get the point my guy.

Kwon was cut in March before the draft and wasn’t resigned until august

Davis was the only returning LB and you think we drafted Werner bc of baun

Move on, you’re wrong
