We just traded a top tier player for less than compensatory value if lost in FA

And losing him on the field for a year in the meantime.

Terrible.

Taysom Hill is a big part of why.

Admit your sins.

I mean this doesn't need it's own thread, but when the player is a malcontent who wants a massive contract the situation changes.

Compensation sucks but Saints wanted him off the team.

They must have wanted him gone ASAP, so it was this or release him I guess.

bullshite. We are a structured professional organization and shouldn't give into a little malcontent fricking crybaby drama. He was our asset and he can suck titts for a year and ball out for his next deal.

Top tier is being generous

He’s extremely good at what he’s been asked to do, while being surrounded by true top tier players.

I don’t think he’ll be as good as a true safety, and not just being a disrupter

So we just would have held on to cancer that wasn't playing for a year? I feel like that would have drove down his free agency price anyway. So instead of a maybe a 4th, we get a 5th and 6th. This isn't really the end of the world

Was it a guarantee compensatory pick for next year if he left?

I forget those compensatory rules.

He's not exactly going to the Jags. The Eagles are one of the most well run organizations in the NFL and they're about to pay him.

Yeah I don't want that attitude around the locker room or team.

Good for them and good for him. We'll see if he lives up to whatever contract he demanded.

pretty much. in any case, it guarantees it goes into our compensatory formula which is a big sway one way or the other.

You sure about that? Jalen Hurts is in the last year of his deal next season.

They have the draft capital to make moves if necessary and a year of the tag if necessary, also.

They have over $9M in cap space so they can front-load the hell out of this deal to ease hits in the future when that QB decision has to be made. They also have a ton of flexibility in 2023 when they can cut a lot of the old guard.

They just payed Brown and they’re about to have to pay Hurts, and that QB deal could be extremely expensive. It’s not a guarantee they pay CGJ.

This could be a one year rental to try and make a run.
