A population of 32 isn’t sufficient to properly make that assumption

To only have 1 Black NFL head coach in a league that is 75% Black, I think they have very valid reason to cry racism.

What a complete dumass. The team is racist but they hired you with no prior coaching experience, failed to get yiur team in the playoffs 3 years and get fired so everyone is racist now? What a POS, and he can kiss his career goodbye

13% of the population yet the most popular sport in the US is 75% black

Interesting. White folks should probably be complaining about roster decisions

I guess he decided he'd just rather not coach again. Dude is burning some bridges this afternoon.

Based on the fact that clearly his interview was ONLY there to satisfy the rule. That is certainly in violation of the spirit of the rule (even if teams do it all the time - this information doesn’t get out, especially directly to the candidate).

...or the interview was there to satisfy the rule and, somewhere before the interview happened, another candidate was selected.

That does NOT violate the spirit of the rule.

The league is 75% black due to athleticism.

Athleticism doesn't really play a part is the success of a coach.

A reasonable expectation would be a cross-section that looks like population as a whole.

They believe black people are a superior race. You would have to believe that to argue that they are simply more athletic but also equally intelligent and organized.

It’s an interesting belief that I’d be happy to have them explicitly argue.

Well, I don’t want to get into a political debate or have to argue the semantics of the spirit of the rule. But realistically the rule doesn’t want anyone doing interviews just to satisfy the rule. Yes, it happens with every hire, of course, but no one has ever proved that outright in this way. So, we can agree to disagree, but I’d be willing to bet that this lawsuit will go somewhere because of the way the timeline shakes out here relative to what the Rooney rule is supposed to do.

Again…not arguing he is in the right calling the racism card…I’m just saying that he will have a case here. I’d be willing to bet the NFL settles for a lot of money and they add more rules like this as a result of this lawsuit. If it was nothing and he had no case, then that won’t be the case, will it?

You must have missed the part where the owner offered him $100,000 for every loss. He was never supposed to, or set up to win.

Dumass.

Why does it matter who makes up the majority of the league? What about all the assistant coaches?

So sick and tired of this victimhood bs mentality. Do a better job and maybe you can keep your job.

Secondly, I am wondering if you are giving BS statistics?

quote:

In 2020, Black of African American players made up approximately 57.5 percent of NFL teams.

Talking about race is tiresome. Good gosh. Stop forcing freaking race. Be a better freaking coach.
