Bring him in, take a look at him, gauge his emotional state.

Keep him off twitter.

No he has not. He started off that way but now he’s had just as much bad as good. His numbers are much worse then last year.

He’s given up a 100.4 rating and 65 completion % this year. Yeah I know PFF isn’t everything but they dropped him down from a solid 80s grade to 60s since just before mid season.

To those thinking he’s having a good year, do you have any anything to actually back that up? Or you just being the type of homers that want zero criticism of any player? Not saying he needs to be benched, just saying he’s isn’t having an overall good year.

Couldn't have anything to do with Lattimore getting hurt and various other injuries the defense has dealt with over the last several weeks.

I'm not saying Apple hasn't had bad moments in games, he has. But for most of the season he's done well in the context of what he's supposed to do, being the other guy opposite of Lattimore.

There's no way the Giants cut him just because he used the word "retard." Something else going on. I'd be wary.

Really?

(Silent Thoughts of Opposing QB's: "Hmmmm... Where should I throw? Where is #25 at? I know that has at least an 80% shot to peel off 10 yards...")

He’s still a starter not some 4 string guy pushed into a starting role. There haven’t been various other injuries until this 49er game. Prior to that game (with Klein/Alonso and Rankins and Davenport during) there weren’t any other significant injuries that affected the pass rush.

Like I said some of you want zero criticism unless a player is playing as bad as Brandon Browner. It’s always some excuse.

It's 2019. Calling someone a retard is akin to beating your wife.

You must not have watched frick face Garapolo stare down Apple all game and complete to virtually every WR opposite of him with no fear of Apple making a play on it.

Both of which are easily recoverable if you're a valuable player on an NFL football team... like it or not.

But to answer the question, yes we should. Saints are in too tight a window to concern themselves with public backlash. Go win a Super Bowl. Jenkins can help make that happen

When did midget and retard become offensive? They are accurate descriptions of things. We said those words in elementary school all the time and never got in trouble. It’s an accurate description of someone with mental retardation.

Would this sorta be a consolation prize since we missed out on a #2 WR?

If so, I’m in!

That says as much about Lattimore as it does Apple.

If you made a list of #2 corners through the years, Apple is still one of our better ones.

You're not wrong...though in this case I imagine it didn't help that when he was questioned about it he basically doubled down, and didn't even give standard famous person 'those words don't represent me' hollow apology so everyone would've moved on.

Dude really does seem a bit on the slow side, ironically enough.

Now unemployed, Janoris Jenkins becomes contrite over his use of an offensive term
Posted by Mike Florio on December 14, 2019, 10:17 AM EST NBCsports
quote:

Before the Giants released cornerback Janoris Jenkins, he was unapologetic to the point of defiant regarding the use of an offensive term when interacting with a Twitter critic.

Now that Jenkins needs one of the other 31 teams to claim his contract on waivers, he’s singing a different tune.

Appearing on the TMZ Sports TV show, Jenkins tried to erase the perception/reality that he had no qualms about using the word, and that he’d do so again.

quote:

“You just admit to it,” Jenkins said. “Admit that you did wrong, which I did.”

But he didn’t, at least not immediately. He said what he had to say to Giants coach Pat Shurmur, and then Jenkins seemed to make it clear that he’d use the word again, if he saw fit.

“[A]t the end of the day it’s my slang,” Jenkins told reporters on Thursday. “So if you take it how you’re going to take it, it’s on you. I don’t mean to offend nobody.

My dad always told me, ‘Speak freely and own up to what you say.’ So I always speak freely as a man and I speak how I want to speak.”

Now, he’s using different buzz words to try to rebuild his career.

“It’s always a learning moment,” he said. “Everybody’s going to learn from different situations . . . move forward and learn.”

“Move forward” is the key. It will be hard for him to move forward to a new team if the new team believes he’ll do the same thing again, creating an unwanted distraction and forcing the team to abruptly release him, like the Giants did.

Jenkins’ contract is subject to waivers, with a claiming deadline of Monday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
