Annakin Skywalker had an arm chopped off and was fully functional like the same day via robotics

I actually had the same surgery in April 2018, only they didn't use the surgical tape. Instead they cut out a section of the palmaris longus tendon from my wrist and used that. After 6 weeks I was still a little sore but other than that, I felt normal. Today I'd say it's probably better than before my injury. I just can't seem to snap my fingers on that hand anymore lol. That being said, I don't think he'll have trouble playing in 6 weeks.

I was hoping perfect meant 4 weeks.
4 weeks was never going to happen. Not realistic.

He’s in a cast. How exactly do you rehab “for a few days” immediately after a surgery in a cast?
Not sure why this caught my attention.
Mostly focused on range of motion of the other digits. Hands/fingers get stiff really really quickly.

I'm no physician but I think 6 weeks is very optimistic. I was thinking about how quick a recovery that actually is. When someone tears a knee ligament they are usually out for the year. How can you tear a major thumb ligament and it only take 6-8 weeks?
Because ones a knee, and ones a thumb. There's no equivalent to "quad atrophy" you have to fight against in the thumb.

I think that same injury just 5 years ago is a season ender.

Yeah I badly dislocated a finger and I had to go to physical therapy a couple times a week where they would stretch the finger in all kinds of weird ways to make sure it didn't stiffen up permanently and allow me to retain as much range of motion as possible.

Oh no doubt. Elbows and fingers......you don't move them, you lose them.

I had a finger dislocation and ruptured tendon. In surgery within a week and went through several weeks of occupational therapy that began a few weeks after the surgery. Range of motion, minimize scar tissue effects, manage swelling.

Notice how all the updates (most current) are coming from national guys, not local yokels.

Oh dear, is anyone else now worried about Drew able to hear the snap count?

It is. We're talking about an NFL quarterback being ready to grasp and throw a football with power and accuracy. Very different than an ordinary Joe being able to perform daily tasks.
And if he tries to come back too soon, he may prolong the healing process.

Mike Trout missed 6 weeks with same surgeon and injury.

Chris Paul missed about 6 weeks with the basically the same injury and surgery.
Obviously it might take longer. Different bodies. But it’s a super common surgery with a very high success rate. Odds are he’s back for the falcons.

It was his off hand, though.

Also his off hand. Big difference.
I don’t think there would be any doubt Brees would be back in 4-6 weeks if this was his left thumb.

once again.... week 7 after the injury is our BYE WEEK
he can miss just 6 games and be back following the bye (which would be 8 weeks post-injury)
