Yea, no freaking way he's back to throwing an accurate ball 4 weeks after surgery on a ligament/tendon in his thumb. That's a tough injury for the body to heal quickly.

Have you ever swung a baseball bat before?

Try it for yourself. It is possible to grip certain tubular things, like baseball bats, while favoring/shielding the thumb, to a degree.

It is impossible to grip something as girthy (hehe) as a football without tremendously point loading the thumb MCP joint.

Again, apples vs oranges.

I'm sure a lot of people will call BS on this but I live in Los Angeles and work in Santa Monica and saw Brees walking around near the Promenade with his wife yesterday. They were laughing and talking about something. Didn't want to yell anything to blow his cover and then have people realizing who he was. But weirdly seeing him appear to be in good spirits actually made me feel a little better about this whole situation. Like, he seems to be moving forward and being positive about the whole thing, why the hell am I so torn up about it lol.

He had a small out patient procedure. He realizes what the next few weeks are going to be like.

He also makes $20mm+ a year and has a fine as wife.

Why would he be anything other than happy and laughing. He understands that it’s all out of his control.

I had a thought the other day. It probably won’t be this way, but what if this surgery actually makes Drew better? What if that ligament had gotten weaker over time and his grip wasn’t what it used to be? And now this surgery actually gives him a little stronger grip and grasping strength in his throwing hand? It’s highly unlikely but fun to think about.

Henry was throwing gas when that cast came off. I can see Brees throwing 80-yard bombs during the second half of the season.

They are comparing it to some stupid BASEBALL players return.
Football mechanics are a different world in terms of what the thumb does.

They are dumb
