The thumb surgery for #Saints  QB Drew Brees went perfect, source said, and he’s expected to remain in the Los Angeles area to rehab and work for the next few days. The original time frame was 6 weeks and that remains within reach. NO has not yet placed him on Injured Reserve.

Perfect?

I was hoping perfect meant 4 weeks.

I think it going perfect is the reason they're thinking 6 weeks. That always seemed like the lowest time frame with folks thinking 4 being incredibly optimistic. I think there was a reason there was a lot of 8-10 week speculation.

People saying 4 weeks are just emotional and in denial about what happened

He’s in a cast. How exactly do you rehab “for a few days” immediately after a surgery in a cast?

Not sure why this caught my attention.

Brit is going to get his "rehab" started for a few days in LA before going home to the kids. That's what I read.

That 6 week mark puts him coming back right before the falcons home game. That’s the game this year I chose to fly down there for. It’s going to be an electric atmosphere. I am so fricking pumped. Let’s go!

He's in great physical condition, and we all know he's going to max out his rehab.

Getting him ready by the bye week seems perfect to me. It allows CSP to run whatever offense he's going to run over the next few weeks, then use the bye to transition back to a Brees-led offensive scheme.

I'm no physician but I think 6 weeks is very optimistic. I was thinking about how quick a recovery that actually is. When someone tears a knee ligament they are usually out for the year. How can you tear a major thumb ligament and it only take 6-8 weeks?

"Brees is Gone for the year. Maybe, just maybe with Brees amazing dedication to recovery, he may be back this year, but recovery from a serious injury will be slowed down by his age. That area of the hand is essential to accuracy and ball speed. If the report that is saying there are torn ligaments is accurate, it's bad news and Bridgewater is not good enough to lead us to to the playoffs."
