7. Washington Commanders: CB Mansoor Delane, LSU
It comes down to Caleb Downs, Delane, or Carnell Tate. There’s love in the building for Tate, but too many sources I trust around the league think this pick is for Dan Quinn’s defense. Sonny Styles would be the ideal choice, but he’s gone to Tennessee in this exercise. (Important to note: If Styles doesn’t go at 4, he will almost certainly be here for Washington at 7.) Delane is a good fit, but he’s not the typical length of a corner in Quinn’s system.

8. New Orleans Saints: Edge Rueben Bain Jr., Miami
The Saints can sit back and take the best player on their board. While Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson could fill the Saints’ WR2 hole opposite Chris Olave (and I have both guys ranked slightly higher than Bain), I think the Saints can set themselves up for a strong two-round combo pick by going edge here. There will be some solid receiver options for them to choose from in Round 2.

9. Kansas City Chiefs: WR Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State
You still can’t rule out offensive tackle—Andy Reid wants this line solidified, and there’s a Spencer Fano connection with Andy from their Kyle Whittingham ties. But maybe KC trades up later in the round to land the other Utah tackle, Caleb Lomu.

10. New York Giants: OT Francis Mauigoa, Miami
Caleb Downs and Vega Ioane could be in play here, but Mauigoa has been linked to the Giants for a while, and this would be great value to land a player many scouts believe is the top offensive lineman in the draft. With Jermaine Eluemunor re-signed, the Giants have two RT/OGs to round out the right side of their line, and it would give them an overpowering run-blocking group for Jeremiyah Love, Cam Skattebo, and Tyrone Tracy Jr.

11. Miami Dolphins: OT Spencer Fano, Utah
Bobby Slowik comes from the Shanahan tree, and Fano specializes as a zone blocker. This would be the perfect marriage of the best player available and a scheme fit for a Dolphins organization looking to build inside-out under new GM John-Eric Sullivan.

12. Dallas Cowboys: DS Caleb Downs, Ohio State
If they were to move up, it would be for a pass rusher, but in this situation Dallas gets the no. 5 player on my board. They can plug in Downs as an immediate-impact starter and leader of the secondary. They would also be thrilled if Rueben Bain Jr. or Mansoor Delane fell here.

I do not disagree, though it would be hard to pass on Downs but I'd understand it.

Loomis loves his bust defensive ends so this checks out.

Another year of the offense stalling out by Week 5. Cool.

So you think McShay knows who they will pick? It's a guess.

Does arm length really matter for pass rushing - legitimate question. Flexibility, bend, speed, and power seems to be more important no?

Now run blocking... Yes I definitely see that since you have to anchor and if you can't engage then you can't anchor.

Tyrannosaurus Rex was one of the fiercest predators to ever exist on land on this planet and them too did it with shorter arms.

Is Bain even a good fit for a 3-4?

I just don’t believe in Bain at all

Also McShay is probably the least plugged in guy as far as predicting what teams will do. He’s good at player analysis but he’s never been that accurate

Absolutely it matters, but it is not the only factor.

I think Bain is a football player. I think he can be used in various formats and is a complete end type player that could probably kick inside from time to time when needed. Will Bain be an 18 sack player ever, maybe not but i think he can be a pretty consistent high end hustle guy on the line that gives you stout run defense as well. High character and High work ethic guy.

I’ve seen people say Brandon Graham and I could maybe see that.

No melt if it’s Bain. Don’t think he’s the second coming of Terrell Suggs, but he’s going to contribute positively on the field and in the locker room.

I’d only be disappointed with Tyson. Would hope for the best but I like Tate’s skillset/fit better and think Tyson is soft.

I'm not sure I'm happy with Brandon Graham as a top 10 pick.

Don't get me wrong - he's a very good nfl player. I want to shoot for. More than just that with a top 10 pick.

So Jalen Pitre with a top 10 pick?

I’d take Tate then Tyson in this scenario or trade to the Giants/Cowboys/Rams if you aren’t confident due to his hamstring issues

ETA
Tate isn’t falling to 16 wtf is this mock

It must. There is only one player to ever make All Pro with arms <32" and his name is Micah Parsons. An absolute freak of nature. Bain is not that.

Crash out before the Saints even make a pick. A Saints Talk tradition like none other.

Your draft does not live and die by one pick.
