Where would they play if you destory the Dome? It would take at least two seasons
Why would you destory the dome?? You keep playing there til the new stadium is built. Then use the historical dome for other ventures.

For the millionth time, the Dome is extremely structurally sound in an IDEAL location. It would be a TOTAL WASTE OF $$ to knock it down and build something else at the same or new location.

I know none of you want to believe it, but the Superdome is not iconic. It looks old as frick. When they show the outside on TV, it looks old as frick.

Looks are subjective and your downvotes seem to indicate that your in the vast minority my dude. Sorry

And aside from looks, can you really provide one valid area where the dome is more deficient than other newer stadiums in the league? That aren’t being added with the new upgrades.

Can't replace the Superdome in that exact location. Its too small of a footprint if you want to make it a world class stadium. NOLA East/ Slidell would be the best option but I'd rather it stay downtown. It's the one thing that none of these other new stadiums can offer. Proximity to hotels, downtown, major entertainment area is second to none.

Have you ever been to a game in Foxboro? I went last year. frick that shite. You cannot even get home via Uber. So you either have to drive or luck out and get one of the limited train tickets. I would hate a stadium in Slidell or the East.

This is another one of the many reasons why everyone in the sports media love coming here for major events. Everything is basically in walking distance of your hotel. SF - 43 miles, NE - 28 miles, Dallas - 20 miles, Miami -18 miles, Arizona - 17 miles, Washington -14 miles, LA - 12 miles

Nashville built a POS stadium that's already cracking apart. It wasn't that great of a venue to begin with. There will never be a new football stadium built for the Saints in NOLA, just like the Bears and Packers. The Superdome is iconic.

I think the Saints will ultimately get a new stadium. It will NOT be in Orleans parish, instead, it'll be near the team's HQ off airline Hwy in Metairie. It's closer to the airport, better local for travel into and from the stadium, and with a larger actual tax base, they might have a better chance at collecting tax revenues.

It's actually the biggest selling point. We don't realize how spoiled we are here until you go to another city for a sporting event. There's ample hotels & restaurants all within waking distance of each other and the Dome.

After reading that article, I can think of 800,000,000 reasons why the Superdome is sufficient.

Not that this would EVER happen due to numerous other reasons but the traffic getting there would be a nightmare.

Heard an interesting talk from the head of the management company yesterday. Essentially, because the superdome was 2 million square feet, double the size of its contemporaries, Ripping and tearing on it as much easier. They are able to do renovations without affecting the functionality of the facility.

The thus, where other stadiums have to be have to be torn down or shut down for renovations, the superdome can keep operating. Furthermore, the federal Katrina money helped immensely!
