Everyone is talking about the same few guys: Bain, Downs, Tate, Tyson, Delane, Lemon etc at 8.

So if you had to throw a curveball and pick a guy no one expects, that is barely talked about on here, who would it be? This is not who you want them to take.

Ground rules:

Someone expected to go in the first round

Someone you could actually see them taking…

Mine is Spencer Fano. Team Captain. Position versatility to all 5 line positions, played both tackle sports, some teams see him as a guard. Great athlete for his size.

And we know how the Saints feel about lineman. (I also considered Vega Ioane for this)

Kenyon Sadiq. TE that runs a 4.3. Who needs a 1sr round WR?

Mauigoa. Idk. Maybe the other top 10s balk at o line early and the saints feel he’s a great value at 8. I hope not but you never know

This thread is not necessary.

Bain is the pick. We will then be fed a line of BS from Saints brass how they got a “game changer” and how he’s “dynamic.”

Then the Saints instagram will put out some sycophantic reel.

TE's line e up in the slot more these days

I'm telling you that's where the majority of the action is.

on a got to have it down teams that have badass receivers will sometimes move their best into the slot.

I mean s*** think about how many times Colston lined up in the sliot.

I wouldn’t melt at KS at 8. Eff the mocks. There aren’t always suitors for trade downs. If you love a prospect and think he significantly helps your situation then grab that mf’er.

Keldric Faulk

Mickey loves him some RAS. Immediate help stopping the run. Pass rush upside. Great locker room guy.

I’d prefer that 1000x more than Sadiq.

Last interior lineman selected in the first round to win a Superbowl was Damian Woody, New England, 1999. In 2013, Seattle had a 1st round lineman win the Superbowl, but he was originally selected as an OT and later switched to the interior. Just not a franchise altering position.

Schrager said one thing he knows for sure and it’s the saints not drafting OL at 8

The biggest curveball possibilities are if someone falls imo - styles or Love.

If they reach, Faulk or Lemon

Might not be the thread for it, but after diving into the top 3 WR prospects, Lemon really stands out. I think he will be very productive in the NFL. Physical at catch point, great hands, great after the catch, durable, very solid route runner, also trick play upside (he's got an accurate cannon for an arm). I see the argument for Tate over Lemon if you prefer a taller, deep ball specialist, but I don't see what Tyson offers over Lemon in any aspect of the game.

Tyson is just so smooth and brilliant at his fakes often causing huge separation. I love lemon also. I’d be really happy with either at 8.

I think the thing that's tough for me w Tyson is that not only was he injured a lot, he also was playing injured quite a bit. So, I didn't come away impressed with his after the catch ability. But I have no idea if he is just mediocre after the catch or if he was laboring through an injury. To me, he's just going to be too similar to Olave with bigger biceps. Good Route runner, can make some nice grabs, but after the catch ability and durability is going to be an issue with both of them.

The risk w paying Olave $30M plus a year and drafting Tyson at 8, is having to go through large portions of seasons with both of them being unavailable. Then what do we do?

Kenyon Sadiq all day!
Trade back with Dallas at 12 and pick up the 20th pick where you get Mesidor or a TN cb. Immediate impact.
