What does everyone think about the proposed deal to reward teams for hiring minority coaches by getting to jump up in the draft?

If people wish to be rewarded jobs on the backs of those who did nothing but be born in the incorrect ethnic group what on earth can I say.

Can we move up in draft if we hired a minority black punter?

If I were the Saints, Chiefs, Pat's, or another very successful team, I would ask Goodell which white coaches should be demoted/laid off.

I just don’t agree with this. It’s nothing against anyone I just think its not right to give a team any advantage that’s based purely on skin color.

Very racist policy, it’s insulting to the Black coaches. NFL is basically saying they need help to be successful against white coaches

Is this really being proposed?
Anyone have a link

Yes it is real.
No they don't need it. Demographics of coaches in the NFL already match demographics of people in the country.
Policies like this is what racism looks like.

Ridiculous!!
Next any team that signs COLIN HUNKOFSHIT to their final roster will get the first pick in the NFL draft next year!!!

There are lots of good black coaches. Brian Flores has turned around a shitbox team and had a fire-sale to get picks for his new face of the franchise QB and completely rebuilt the OL to protect him with damn good players. Byron Leftwich is about to have the opportunity to be Tom Brady’s OC and Anthony Lynn is steadily rebuilding his team with cheap young talent and an ever improving defense.

This is so stupid it’s laughable that it’s even being considered.
It also is a very slippery slope IMO. What’s next?
Starting rosters must be 20% African American, 20% Caucasian, 20% Hispanic, 20% Asian and 20% Pacific Islander?
Certain ethnicities must get a certain percentage of snaps?
Where would it end? And as someone else mentioned, it cheapens the efforts of those that have earned what they’ve worked for. Why work harder if you’re guaranteed a roster spot, playing time, etc.?

Lol. More like being born in the “correct” ethnic group means you can do nothing and be rewarded jobs. fricking idiot.

I thought part of the policy was because minorities couldn’t get coordinator jobs. Remind us, who’s done nothing to be rewarded those jobs again?

Curtis Johnson & Aaron Glenn
Where’s my draft pick?

I’m not watching the nfl anymore and will either sell the rights to my season tickets or just sell every game until they flag me as a scalper and take them away.

It is ridiculous. Coaches should be hired on the basis of ability and nothing else. What this is telling me is that the league feels that they have to give minority coaches a competitive edge for them to be successful. Why don't we have a minority commissioner and minority owners? Why don't we have more white running backs, receivers, and cornerbacks? This is ridiculous, and the fans need to make the league aware of it.

This is what I would think. Is there really a significant number of black coaches who are even for this? Is it the Al Sharpton’s of the world calling for it? Or is it another case of successful people trying to assuage their white guilt by offering a patronizing proposal that would never be used in the spirit it was intended? It seems like it would be offensive to me as a black man.
I know they said the Rooney Rule was a good way to sharpen your interview skills, but I can’t imagine it would make you feel good about yourself to interview for a job you know you’re not getting because they’ve already identified their hire, simply to satisfy a feel-good rule, so that rich white owners can jerk each other off about how not racist they are.
That said, the NFL has historically been really bad about hiring retreads. It seems to have gotten a lot better recently with the influx of young coaches, but for a while, the off-season was like musical chairs. Same names would just get shuffled around to different teams. It seems like once you’re in the club, you’re in there for life, like the damn mafia—how many teams has Norv Turner coached for? I’m pretty sure I heard Chan Gailey is still an OC somewhere too.
And now new generations of Shanahans and Schottenheimers have slid silently into the club without having to scale the usual hurdles that most people would. Not that they’re not good coaches, but from my perspective, the bigger issue is access to the club for everybody, not just black coaches.
