We are almost forced to take a LT early. Do you try to trade up? Do you hope one of the next tier of tackles is good enough like the kid from Tulsa? I’m praying there’s a run on QB that lets Penning slip to us but I’ll be surprised if more than 2 QB are taken before we pick and Ekwonu, Cross and Neal will all be top 10 picks. I’m not as sold on the Tulsa kid because they are projecting him to play guard. We need a no doubt LT prospect and after Penning there just isn’t a sure thing that I can see. If he ends up still being there around the 12th or 13th pick I would gladly give up 16 and our 2nd to go get him. Protecting Jameis has to be the first priority even before finding him more WR help which you can still do at 19.

Look at the teams ahead of us and then look at their OL and tell me he falls to 16. No chance unless there is a run on QB and WR but I just don’t see the talent there at QB this year. Worst QB class in a little while it seems.

We already have a LT in Ram. We don't have to reach for a LT, as we can go find a good RT

I wouldn’t want to mess with a good thing if you don’t have to but that may be what has to happen. Right now Ramcyzk is the best RT in football but would he be as good on the left? I don’t know that. Maybe, maybe not.

Penning is a bit of a project - he's not a plug and play tackle coming from a FCS program.

If we are really are interested in winning this year (as we may be based on us dumping next year's 1st), he's probably not the guy. He needs time to develop.

Draft is deep at OT and WR. Assuming those are the positions we go tonight, we will be fine.

Armstead was an FCS player who everyone thought needed time to develop too but he got thrown into the fire 4 games into his rookie year and the rest is history. I love Penning’s tape even if it is at lower competition. You can’t teach a guy to play nasty like he does. I really think he’d be your day 1 starting LT.

He's getting paid LT money and wouldn't doubt he moves to the left. Didn't someone say it was in his contract that he would be playing LT?

Not saying he will fall to 16, but look at the teams with shitty olines and their draft history. Some of them have shitty olines because they don't invest in them early in the draft because they believe they can find those late round gems; regardless of their lack of history doing so.

I think if he moves to left Tackle his pay significanly raises, and that's something we wouldn't mind doing from wat I've read.

I'd rather package to move up and get Cross than risk missing out on Penning at 16.

We'd still have 19 for a WR.

If we don't move up for Cross and somebody takes Penning at 14 or 15 that would be a worst case scenario IMO. We'd prolly have to move Ram to LT then.

I don't think we NEED to reach for a LT in the first. We have options there. We could switch Ram to LT and have Hurst play RT. Or we could slide Peat out to LT(his natural position) and then draft a guard.

I'd personally draft Linderbaum if all the top tackles are gone. Then he plays inside while Peat slides outside to LT.

Point is, we have options. Relax.
