Just like "Hakeem drops the ball" is talked about forever. Except it isn't.

still the biggest CHOKE in modern nfl history...........it will NEVER go away.......NEVER....
Posted on 1/22/18 at 7:51 am to saintsman40
Biggest choke for the Saints for sure. For the entire history of the NFL? Not even close.
And it'll get referenced here and there, and then after the highlight the announcer will say "the Vikings were then curbstomped by the Eagles the following week."
There have been bigger fails in bigger games than the Marcus Williams play.

Nope. No one remembers the Super Bowl loser.
EXCEPT....that one year....when the loser blew a 28-3 lead...........

How many threads do you plan to be the village idiot with regard to this play in?
That play died last night. It will be shown when we play them next year, only because it happened so recently, then never again.

but the Vikes losing tonight will essentially make the play obsolete now
...to Vikings fans, sure.
To Saints fans? nope

Meh. We played so poorly in the first half that I had already accepted the defeat. Coming all the way back only to lose in that fashion made it sting that night, but I'm over it now. We overachieved this year, so it was a fun ride.
That play won't define the season for me. And now that it won't be a highlight for years to come of a Superbowl run, I won't have to think about it anymore.

To the general NFL fan as well. I don't expect this highlight to be shown much anymore other than in a package of other infamous playoffs moments.
Saints fan didn't forget Hakeem dropping the ball. We didn't forget the Vernon Davis TD. The rest of the NFL populous pretty much did.

yeah, but at least the biggest dud of a play resulted in a minnesota win, nothing more.
carolina's and atlanta's biggest duds led to their opponent winning a SB
