He was not. He was the worst run defender in the league last year. Now he is playing better.

All draft picks are Hall of Famers until you actually put a name next to the number.

I’m pretty sure anyone judging the career of a WR that was added to the team 3 months ago in this rebuilding year is legally retarded.

So tired of hearing how we "wasted" a 4th round pick on a 6'4" 28 year old WR.

...and Vele has produced what for us?
How many catches?
How many yards?
How many TD's
How many 1st downs?

Why does it seem a stretch to you that as of this point in time he has been a waste? At this point in time I'd rather have the 4th round pick. By a long shot.

He’s going to have to play a bigger role with McCoy out our already shite OL is going to be downright dangerous for a QB’s life. A bigger WR like Vele will be needed to make the short passing game work. We need a Michael Thomas guy that can run a 7 yard slant and hold onto the ball knowing he will take a hit.

You change the scouts or the people picking the draft. Teams are built through the draft.

Why are his snaps declining? Are the coaches legally retarded?

This guy has four catches in six games with a game high of 13 yards. Yall really coming in here calling people retarded at least wait til he has one good game. Let’s start with say a 50 yard game?

The draft is a lottery for every team. Certainly some are better than others but these same people have picked some of the cornerstones of our team. Like every other team, they have swung and missed. It's about performance and potential. Everyone drafted has varying degrees of both. F

You know the most reliable way to increase the chance of drafting impact players? Make more picks

We chose the literal opposite of that strategy

Thank you. We are acting like we didn't get something in return because Michael Thomas or Marques Colston hasn't emerged in 3 games for a 1-6 team.

This isn't about his production in 3 - 4 games. It's about the value paid for the asset and what he may provide over the long term. Draft picks are currency, which I understand, but it seems that many are overstating the value of a 4th round pick which may have a 10-20% chance of hitting. Vele actually has produced for an NFL team increasing his odds of being a contributor compared to Saldiveri, Book, Leonard, etc

475 yards isn’t exactly a giant resume of nfl production, especially for a guy in his late 20s to begin with. Especially in a Shawn Payton system who has made something out of nothing with many guys over the years. I would get the trade a lot more if he was 21 and would better slot into our timeline.

His name is Sean. Not Shawn. It's so hard to take your opinions seriously when you aren't smart enough to spell. And because those 475 yards came in one year. His rookie year. Which would have surpassed everyone on our team except Juwan.

Apologies. Didn’t realize I was replying to the head of the local Mensa chapter.

You do realize that him being more productive than our ultra unproductive players still doesn’t guarantee him being ACTUALLY productive.

There are plenty of players that would’ve surpassed everyone on our roster’s production last year, we were relying on MVS half the year after all.

I still don’t hate the trade like some do, I just wish the guy wouldn’t be 30 years old on his second contract. Even if it works out that’s not really what I would want to be paying in a young, rebuilding roster.

I bet he liked the trade when it happened.

This was not the yr to make that trade even if it somehow works out.

“What does that mean?”

That he's not here past his rookie deal or he will be competing for wr5 on league minimum if he’s brought back for second contract. You may give a 24-5 year old guy a modest extension to be a depth piece, you’re not going to invest in a 30 year old who hasn’t really shown anything.

But this is looking like it will be a top 100 pick depending on how many comp picks are given away. It’s not a not a run of the mill 4th rounder that Mickey probably thought would fall in the middle of the round. You never want to give those away. Just a really stupid trade. And I’d feel the same way if was catching 500 yards a year for us.

4 reception on 5 targets.

One receiving TD called back because of a penalty.

His one dropped pass was a spot foul pass interference that gained double digit yards on a 3rd and long.

3 of his 4 catches were for first downs and the above mentioned penalty resulted in a 4th first down.

Sounds like to me that Rattler needs to look more for him and the coaches need to used him more.

Then we can make a confident assessment of what his value is to the team.
