We gave up a future 1st(full value TBD) and a 5th(147) to move up

We spent 1 1st(14) to draft him

Total Davenport Cost was
2 1sts(27 + ?)and a 5th(147) to get 14 to draft Davenport.

According to Draktek trade values are as follows

14 is 1100
27 is 660
147 is 32.2
Future 1st 310(next year pick drops a round in value)
Losing the trade by 2.2 pts

For this trade to you work you have to believe a future 1st has 2nd round value which in real time it does.

In actual value because that first will eventually mature like a booming stock with a first round equity...Saints need to crush this season to lower that 1st round trade value and or crush the pick with long term development.

Saints obviously weighed the risks and are betting on both. Having a successful season that could lead all the way to Atlanta and they believe Davenport has pro bowl potential.

Also people have way too much emotional investment in picks sometimes over football players. It is like the family guy episode about the mystery box or a boat.

Saints feel they picked the boat and said frick your mystery box.

I buy a new truck that costs 40k.
but i trade in my old truck that was valued at 20k.
my new truck didn't cost 20k, it cost 40k still.

You didn't pay 40K for it though. You paid 20K and a truck.

What you're trying to say about Davenport "costing" 2 first round picks is the same as saying you paid 40K and traded in your truck, which isn't true.

You traded one older truck for a newer one and paid 20K. Therefore, you are looking at a cost to you of 20K.

This really isn't that difficult of a concept.

Giving up your current truck paid for is still a cost to you. Give me your fricking truck for free then since that would be no cost to you.

This is essentially what you're claiming the Saints did by giving up 2 1st round picks for Davenport. You realize that, correct?

You're ignoring the return they received for one of those picks, which was a higher pick. Just like you're ignoring the return of trading in the truck, which is a better truck.

Again, not a complicated concept.

i'm not ignoring the return. I'm saying our return is DAVENPORT... what did Davenport cost us?... 2 first round picks. (ignoring the whole 5th rounder). Elemantary fricking bullshite. What did Lattimore cost us... our first round selection that year....

No... they used 1. You guys are making this shite long division.

They gave up the 2019 first round draft pick. They drafted in the first round this year. It didn't take us 2. It took 1. We didn't have 2 first rounders this year.

2018 first round pick = 1
2019 first round pick = 1
Total first round picks = 2
Trade 1 pick away = 2-1 = 1.

Not hard.

It cost us nothing. It was our 2018 first round pick to begin with. Using doesn't = costing. You don't say "the Saints had to spend a 1st round pick to draft player X". You say the saints drafted. No one uses the terms spent unless its sending picks to other teams.

Ditto. And the TE right after him, Conklin was another good one.

Two good LB's (Micah Kiser LB Virginia and Genard Avery LB Memphis) and a OL that was being talked about as a late 1st early 2nd at one point (Tyrell Crosby OT Oregon) There was some real talent on the board with that 5th round pick

And the edge guy the Rams drafted at #160, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo from Oklahoma, didn't fit our scheme but he has real potential as a pass rusher.

There is nothing to comprehend. It didn't COST us 2 picks. We used a pick we owned on Davenport and traded a pick away for next year. Thats the 1 pick it cost us.

All you can do is toss around insults to have conversations? Its a shame when you have to be pushing, what, 45-50 years old now?
