the state of ST shows just how bad the Saints are right now

There is simply no excitement for this team anymore. This board has been a ghost town the last few months, and now the only thing sparking any modicum of interest are the "I miss X" threads, and even those are barely landing any traction. I remember when this was one of the most popular boards on TD, but now it's just an empty shell.

And to add a little perspective, the Saints aren't "bad" relative to the competition. They just aren't "good" either. They are in that middling ground where they are good enough to win any week, but there is no expectation they are a championship contender.
That said, I think the NFC is so diluted and weak that outside of Philadelphia, no one else is all that much better than most of the other teams. San Francisco has big QB questions and everyone else (Cowboys, Seahawks, Rams, Saints, Giants, Vikings, Lions, etc) are just as likely to be terrible as they are good.

I’ve read all of hellsu’s updates and appreciate his posts. I just don’t comment all the time. It’s a slow time of year. It’s the time of year in the past we would make countdown threads.

I agree with the OP. This board currently… currently… sucks. It peaked years ago and is currently stuck in a rut.
I love the Saints, and I’ve always liked visiting this board. But last year’s Saints team was one of the most boring Saints teams since the late 90’s. The “I miss (player X)” threads were just as boring. And no, I don’t duck my own responsibility for how much this board sucks. I’m part of it. We need to do better.

It doesn’t help that a lot of the OGs barely post anymore. Blues, hell even Paddy, helped make the place fun to visit even during the 2012-2016 years.

This. Some of us cherished every moment of those years bc we knew it was fleeting. Some elected to tear him down bc he hurt their delicate feelings.
It’s not even that they’re bad now, the board would be lively if they were. Even worse, the team is mediocre.

Our fanbase is spoiled. It is supremely difficult to win on a consistent basis in the NFL. We just spent the past 15 years or so being successful and relevant and now the past couple of years has been a little rough. Take a look at who's dropping these shitty threads in here. You never see them post anything. These are the ones that bitch when we're losing but jump on the bandwagon when we're winning. frickem'
You do realize it's been 200 days since we've seen a snap . Of course it's slow. In case you haven't noticed things are fixing to heat up and I'm pretty friggin pumped about our roster. Join in or jump off.
