Rumor is he is available as the Dolphins blow up their roster. Landry would be a phenomenal compliment to Michael Thomas and an improvement over Snead, whom Payton seems to really be taking his time with bringing back.

Landry is a free agent next year, and receiver will be a top target for the Saints for 2018. Go get a proven commodity now for the playoff push.

Only if we can give him the pick we received from Arizona. That’s it and only it.

Not fan of giving up resources for a 9 game rental we'll still need to compete for in FA.

I know it's tempting, but we can't be giving away high picks for these trades. 5th or below would be ideal, but I agree, it'd be nice to have him.

The price for him will be astronomical, and then you have to sign him to a large deal in FA.

Trust me, I would love to have him. It would catapult us into the stratosphere this year.

Just don't think we can swing it.

I truly believe that the 9 game rental will give us a leg up on him in FA. He'll get to see that Sean Payton can draw stuff up for him and the Drew can get him the ball.

Why give up a potential king's ransom for what would amount to an eight game rental? The Saints are doing just fine in the passing game (1 yard out of 3rd place in yards per game). And, Landry is redundant. Thomas serves that role very well for the Saints.

If it were another pass rusher to stick opposite of Jordan, or a lock-down corner to put opposite of Lattimore, or hell, even a MLB to add depth/toughness against the run, then fine. No need to give away draft picks for a WR. Particularly now when it looks like the Saints are starting to draft well again.

They just traded Jay Ajai for a 4th. They won't be asking for a kings ransom. We could probably get away with a 3rd or a 5th and 6th/Snead combo.

would probably need to assume a 11-13 mill a year contract would be what it takes to sign Landry long term.

Teams don't make these trades without agreeing to long term deals ahead of time.

That said they aren't going to give him away for nothing. Cooks went for a 1st. Landry will fetch a 2nd and perhaps another pick.

We don't have a second.

Listen. I really like Landry. But is this true? Landry is a short yardage possession receiver (because he is slow). Thomas is kind of that for us. I feel like a really good compliment to Thomas is a field-stretching player.

That said, I'd take Landry, but probably not for what they are asking.

Cooks had 2 full years of contract before having to be paid huge money and he's a speedster which adds tremendous value. Landry isn't going for a 2nd pick at all bone when he's got 9 games remaining before immediately having to get paid huge money.

He's talking about the "price" of the picks, and then needing sign him to a big deal.

They just gave Ajayi away for a 4th. I wouldn't think the Dolphins would have that high of an asking price for the 2nd best WR on their team, especially a slot WR. I think the Saints could get him for cheap, but with him being an UFA after this year, would the Saints want to lock him up long term for around $10-11 mil/year?

Depends on how far they think they can go this year.

I have no idea off the top of my head, but how much of that is bolstered by the screen game? As the season goes on and you get into the postseason, they need to be able to get chunks of yards downfield to keep the screen open.
