Listened to a little of the game. He's just a little to anxious it seems on telling the action. He needs to relax, explain what happened and let the deuce clean it up.

Is there another former player serving as a play by play guy in the NFL? Probably not.

He's a color guy. Why the frick they made him PBP only the dipshits at WWl can explain. That's an incompetent station that caters to retards.

You keep saying this stupid shite in every one of these threads. It’s not his vocabulary and he obviously knows the game. The problem is his voice is not a play by play voice. LSU actually replaced Hawthorne the correct way. They could’ve just hired Hanagriff for cheap. Instead they went out and got a professional. Blair has a big time radio voice.

It's bad. The pbp on television was 100x better.

Strief has the delivery of the color guy. He speaks too slow and struggles to explain the play succinctly. He'd be fine in the color role. But, he's a disaster as a pbp guy.

No, he needs to explain what is happening as it is happening. That is why it is called play-by-play, not play-after-play. He struggles at this, and frankly, he sucks.

I only listened for like 15 minutes but I thought Deuce was worse than Strief. Obviously Strief has a more important job though

Strief isn’t great now but he’s not terrible considering his lack of experience. I think he’s got talent and will develop nicely in the role

This is the NFL, not high school. Your radio play-by-play position is NOT a developmental position. I posted this last week...and I still believe the analogy fits.

quote:

I'll put it to you this way. It takes a special talent to go straight to the big leagues without spending time in the minors. Will Clark did it and hit a homerun in his first MLB at bat vs. Nolan Ryan. Strief is no Will Clark.

I like stinchcomb alot more than Strief as far as commentary goes. Might be in the minority there

I thought Duece last year says more details than he needs to. He seems to be cutting back a little this year which is good. We don’t need long winded explanations about every play.Zach Streif on the other hand makes me long for Jim Henderson. He just seems obvious he’s an amateur.

WWL has a roster full of amateurs, so its par for the course at this point.

This has been WWL's modus operandi for many years, now. But this hire is probably the worst yet.
The Saints play by play announcer is a high visibility position, the voice of the franchise.
Regardless of how good his audition tapes sounded, you never hire a play by play guy with no experience whatsoever.
Whoever signed off on this should be terminated.

Sean Kelley was the right hire. I listened yesterday to Strief and it wasn’t pretty.

Sean would’ve been perfect and they could’ve figured out the few conflicts that would’ve come up with the Pels.

They could've hired Al Michaels and I'd still long for Jim Henderson.

My thoughts exactly. I used to love to listen to PBP on WWL for games. Now, I only do pre-game and post game. Sucks bad.

If he was anyone other than a 10+ year bet of the organization everyone would want to fire him no questions asked. He’s terrible.
