I don't get this. I would think he would make out better as an UDFA, unless there are rules in place limiting the contract amount for these signings. Where's Bonethug when we need him to drop some know!

prove your innocence, he can still be a 2nd or 3rd round supplemental type pick....

I'm referring to the salary limitations of being drafted. As a FA, the open market is the limit.

The draft will be over in 3 days and UDFA start signing right after. I imagine this investigation is still ongoing by then or the lawyer doesn't want to risk that it's still going on. I'd think Collins would have more bargaining power if his name is fully cleared

Except it isnt. Players get paid based on their draft position. An UDFA aint going to get paid shite

Collins is trying to pull out of the draft now, and let this clear, and then enter the supplemental draft

that didn't stop teams pre 2011. Teams were throwing boatloads of money at unproven rookies.

I don't understand why he won't talk to the police right now or earlier this morning or even last night. I have a hard time believing the authorities won't allow the interview before such a life changing event for him.

wasn't by their choice, they had to in order to get them signed. was par for course.

true, but I still think with an open bidding war for a first round talent his price would go high. teams will overpay for his potential. maybe not to Pre2011 standards but I believe above the current slotting pool

Collins is definitely in BR. he wanted to meet with the police today. They pushed it back. As of 5 minutes ago, he was still on Saints draft board as active.
