Could move it to New Orleans.

I’m sure if the Saints won Sunday the city would gladly host.

I think people don't even understand who gets furloughed in a government shutdown.

Hint: its people like my friend that works for the Post Office in "Technology Advancement".

I can’t tell if there is sarcasm in this post. Is “technology advancement” for the post office really necessary? Why do we even have government run mail service? That’s easily something the private sector can handle.

Some of these jobs need to stay permanently shut down

Atlanta hopes that is the case, even though idk what a federal shutdown has to do with an NFL/State hosted event...

Nothing. It’s just like when John Bel Edwards threatened to cancel LSU football

Yea ok. They are just trying to get you riled up

It's the John Bell Edwards approach and what politicians are best at...fabricating a "crisis" in order to push their agenda. Remember when JBE said LSU football may be canceled if lawmakers didn't agree with him on "poor, broke, LSU?" Do you also remember that exactly ZERO LSU football games were canceled.

The "rationale" is that the FBI, DHH, etc all coordinate with local officials to provide security and if the government won't pay them, they can't secure the game. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business. I suspect they will somehow, someway, make sure their marquee event goes forward as scheduled.

But never let logic get in the way of hyperbolically fabricating a crisis

A report from NBC News details how not just air traffic controllers at Atlanta’s Hartfield-Jackson International Airport will be working without pay, but so will officials at many of the other agencies involved in helping secure the Super Bowl:

I hate big government but I love how the same people who think the post office is an antiquated POS don't want it to advance it's technology

I also think a lot of people don’t understand that even the non-furloughed employees aren’t getting paid.

All essential/non-furloughed means is you still have to go to work and you’ll get back pay once the shutdown ends. During shutdown you’re still not getting paid and your department is getting no money.

DOJ, TSA, FDA, IRS etc are all not getting paid and suffering from real lack of money. Unless you think we shouldn’t have a federal judiciary, airport security, safe food/drugs, and money for literally anything....it’s a real issue.

+1

I used to own a successful online retail business that could not have existed were it not for the post office and Stamps.com.

FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc are way too expensive for a lot of businesses that rely on shipping stuff under 5 pounds or that isn't doing 10,000 shipments a day.
