Take Alex McGough from USFL. Free Agent. He’s really good. Could be a great backup

He looks better than we’ve had last couple years. Could be a solid backup

You have to take into account the talent level he’s playing against is far below that of what he’d see in the NFL.

We dont want anyone from a pretend football league

He's been kicked around the NFL since 2018 until he signed with Birmingham in the USFL. At Birmingham, he has won the starting position twice only because of injuries. While he played well when he started, he still can't seem to win a starting position in the USFL. I think we will be fine with Winston as the backup we have now going into this season.
Been a practice squad player mostly. Not sure

Seriously think he's going to lose in camp to Haener. Winston is just not a reliable player in the league because his appetite for risk is too big at the most important position.

Without trying to dog Winston, that would be an almost ideal case for the Saints because it would mean that Haener is meeting the realistic hopes they had when they drafted him.

I’m expecting a late preseason “injury” that puts Haener on IR for the year

Based on what? What a weird post.

A very good chance of a groin

Stop regurgitating things and misapplying them
Do we “redshirt” people? Yes. But it’ll most likely be a receiver if it happens this year. We’re going into the season with all 3 QB’s

He'd have the shite kicked out of him in The League

Even if he's not ready to play? So he takes a roster spot leaving another player on the PS to be poached away? Why not in this case put him on the 6 week IR? Why have anyone on the 53 if they are not ready?

McGough was a playmaker in the NFL/preseason, has all the tools, had trouble with pocket decisions, goes to the USFL and evolves his game.
Seahawks/Carroll wanted to try him at safety. Texans wanted to bulk him up to be their version of T. Hill. That is how badly NFL coaches wanted to try and keep him. Now they have more reason to.

this ^^^^^^^^
like most USFL QBs, you put him in the NFL and he will have 40 interceptions a year

q
Below that of the NFL? Yes.
Far below? NO.
Ruben Foster was a first round draft pick, many of the USFL guys played in the NFL, most of them were at least on preseason/off season rosters.
The quality of play in the USFL this year was somewhere below an NFL regular season game and above an NFL preseason game.

USFL to NFL is a Grand Canyon scale leap.
