is this the "splash" OTB referred to?

not so much on pass downs of course.
Huh? That interior pass rush will free up the outside, especially cam. We draft some help at edge rush we will most certainly be nasty on passing downs

Get Suh, bring back Okafor
Cam/Rankins/Suh/Okafor
Hendrickson/Davison/Onyemata
That line is filthy

Was Suh a FA when he went to Miami or a trade? I can't remember. If so, was MIA the first team he visited?

So is it safe for me to assume that if we don't address WR/TE in FA that we're going Geodert with 27?

You missed my thread a few down on how we can easily make about as much space as we want to sign whoever we want.
Jordan and Warford alone (both safe bets to play out their entire contracts) save $9.8 mil combined, which is more than enough to work Suh's first year hit in (which will assuredly be under the average salary).
If we want Suh and he wants us, we will get Suh.
On the first visit question, the bigger name players RARELY leave their first visit both because it's usually one of the team's top 3-5 targets and usually the player's top team.
And he wouldn't take the visist if the money wasn't close, so there is an EXTREMELY good chance we sign him, but not 100%.

I seriously doubt that he signs today. It seems like he is going about this similar to how kids do it when being recruited for college. I think he is seeig what is out there and what is being offered. Sort of like what Mo Wilkerson did.
It gives us hope that he is at least giving us a look, but I would be shocked if another team, that he has already visited, hasn't already made him a significant offer. Plus other teams are reportedly looking to jump in the mix after our visit.

Yes and yes.

Wilkerson signed before players could visit I believe (or right after but didn't take a visit either way iirc).
We weren't the first team to talk to his agent I'm sure. Just the first with a serious offer. GB's was just better.

I'd be ok with that. What would give us better value considering draft depth, edge rusher 27? I feel like there would still be good TE talent in the 3rd round, but feel like top tier edge rusher talent would be gone by 27

We are going to have to be very creative to find a way to fit him under the cap.
Wasn't Fairley's first deal a pretend 3 year deal that was only intended to be 1 year?

More often than not.

quote:I know how room can be created. However, there is a long term the Saints have to consider as well (i.e. when Drew's contract is up) and they will not foolishly restructure everyone to try and win a bidding war for Suh. There are several teams with a lot more cap room than us that can structure a contract that puts us out of the running. The Saints will set a limit that other teams may be able to exceed given their situation.

No point in getting angry at someone who wants to get paid at the end of his career.

not many offer a winning culture, stable and tenured coaching and front office with most pieces in place for a championship contending roster immediately.

maybe we implement #bountygate again with him on this team, and go win a super bowl

I wonder how TB's passing will effect the visit today?
Obviously CSP and Loomis will be a bit distracted and have other things going on, and I'm sure it will be a pretty somber mood.

Go look at the thread. I addressed the long term also. Needless to say by 2020 we will have a colossal shite ton of room and can remake the team however we want.
