Trade for draft pick(s) next season and/or a current player of need.

Peat probably rolled his foot leaving the facility after redoing his deal.

Maybe give the kid a year before throwing him to the wolves at a new position he’s never played. Our starting 5 will be sane as last year unless Penning beats out Hurst for LT. I would like Saldiveri to eventually take a starting spot but he’s not a plug and play guy which is perfectly fine.

Yeah, that's no joke.

We've had horrible injury luck on the O-line which parlayed to QB's getting hurt recently.

It's not just the Saints. Look at how many QB's got injured last season.

Saldiveri will play this season.

I'm not trying to be funny.

I mean the way things have been going, why wouldn't he?

I’m on board with this mainly due to my intense hatred of peat.

Once again, who is going to trade and eat the Peat contract? When you overpay the player becomes virtually untradeable and you can’t cut as the cap hit comes due at time of cut.

:Sigh:

Look, you're just going to have to enjoy getting rid of Trautman until training camp ends.

So the OP can be termed a Peat fire.

I think Penning will start at LT. If he doesn’t, that will be a disappointment. When Peat is healthy, he’s an above average run blocker and a serviceable pass protector, but, of course, every season he goes down to some injury.

Do you know the % of drafties that even make their teams.
it can`t be more than 10%.To start as a rookie on the OL
would be more than a homerun selection.

His contract is the league minimum. No reason for us to trade him. We already paid the bonus (which we would save nothing on by trading him).

I believe this kid is a right side OL. I’m not saying he can’t play on the left side but that doesn’t happen often.

I know we restructured him, but I figured the “out” was after the ‘24 season. You saying we could trade/cut him without any dead cap money?

But like you said, even if that’s the case, you gotta keep him on that salary, even if he winds up not getting beat out. Would be the best/most valuable backup G in the league.

His contract is over after this season but we have a $13 million dead cap hit next year. Peat took a big pay cut this year or else he probably would have been cut already.

Next year, we can cut him before June 1 and eat $13mm, or after June 1 and spread that over 2024 and 25.
