his accomplishments because the teams are no longer competitive after he left is purely asinine.

They weren't exactly competitive WHEN he left.

And not only that, but if he were to come out of retirement..possibly shelf his HOF chances for 5 more years. If i were a player that would inspire the hell out of me to win.

Well let's no go nuts on what type of effect he is going to have. I think most of our players give 100% as it is, and don't think parcells HOF bust is going to make a difference.

simple question; was the team better when he left than it was when he got there?

If you address anything in this post, please answer the question above

Yes, they were 100% better than when he took over.

And I'm saying, that doesn't mean shite because he took over a ONE win team.

Any person they hired would have made the team better.

I'm saying with no hyperbole, myself or you could have taken over the team and left the team better than a 1 win team that we took over.

It's kinda hard to get worse then 1 win.

You are just dancing around the point now.

Of course anyone would make a 1 team better by default. They won +10 games the next year, and +6 each of the next 2 years.

a 6 game spike in wins is pretty huge.

Did he leave the team in good shape going forward?

I can't see a yes answer to that question, just can't

He left them in better shape.

Which makes what he did successful.

Regardless the Saints wouldnt hire him to the same position. I don't know why you are spending so much time focusing on that.

You made an ignorant, baseless comment, and I regret ever responding too it. I think I just lost brain cells by reading it.

It's also not hard to imagine the positive impact it might have on the remaining defensive free agents out there that maybe were or weren't considering us.

Considering he would only be here a year, the message I think that would go out is "we aren't throwing this season away".

Ignorant is thinking leaving a team shitty 3 years later is successful.

Yea I think we're sending out this message right now. even if we don't sign him. This shows FAs that we are in the business of winning. That is a big selling point for many FAs.

Last time I checked, Tom Benson owned the Saints. It isn't Sean P job to offer nor his decision.

Are there reports that Benson is on board with this?

Seems Sean Payton trying to make sure he gets his job back post suspension.

Either a tweet or an ESPN article said that Parcell confirmed that he had talked to Payton, not the Saints. I'm sure it's a case of "see if he will do it first".

Again, it's possible that CSP is just looking for some advice from his mentor.

I think Benson would be cool with it.

dumbasses were talking about giving up their season tickets..so having Bill Parcells to come in for a year amongst all the drama to coach your "damaged" team = $$$$$$$

The only fact known I believe is that CSP talked to his mentor and old friend Bill.

I'm also 99.99% sure that IF CSP offered the HC job to Bill is wasn't without FO knowledge.

After reading the TP article last week about how much influence CSP has in every aspect of that operation, i wouldnt be shocked if he started the conversation without FO consultation. It sounds like he damn near runs the show.

In fact, id expect Payton has full latitude to pick his replacement since he has to deal with the results when he returns.
