It's also not hard to imagine the positive impact it might have on the remaining defensive free agents out there that maybe were or weren't considering us.
It's hard to imagine it having any impact at all on FAs. Money talks, not 1 year of bill parcells.

Considering he would only be here a year, the message I think that would go out is "we aren't throwing this season away".
Exactly.
He can help immediately PR-wise.
He can interest free agents that were or weren't previously interested.
He can offer advice & direction during the draft and for roster moves.
He can bring leadership, wisdom, & guidance to a team in off-season, pre-season & the regular season.
He can free up the coordinators to do their jobs.
He can handle necessary maintenance moves during the season that Loomis is unavailable to do.
He can instill a defensive mindset to a defense sorely lacking focus, intensity, & production.
He can lead the Saints to the playoffs, then to a Super Bowl win & then simply get out of the game.
To characterize this as anything other than a win-win situation is simply ridiculous.

For not valuing mediocrity, if that's stupid, fine.
I guess it's stupid to not rave about taking over a shitty team and 3 years later leaving them slightly less shitty.
Go figure.

This is the biggest thing, IMO.
Not to mention he has been successful just about everywhere he has gone. It is a win-win if he thinks he is up for it

shel311, what is your opinion on this?

Such a horrible idea.
Teams that Parcells has been around and in charge of haven't won a playoff game in something like 15 years.
what a stupid post

carmichael really does need to stay offensive coordinator exclusive now that payton is out.. and the same goes for newly acquired spags as defensive coordinator.

I gave it for 3 straight pages lol.

"Everything is hypothetical at this point," Parcells responded when asked about interest in the Saints job, according to David Lennon of Newsday.
That's not a denial. And this isn't the Big Tuna's first rodeo.
Parcells confirmed that he talked to Sean Payton about the Saints situation "when it first happened." When asked if they spoke specifically about the head coaching job, Parcells responded, "Not really."

On account of all those successful seasons filed with playoff victories?
Gotcha.
This thread really opens my eyes to howguys can live off of past successes seemingly forever.

he wasn't the coach in Miami. So that's that.
he's since crawfished about the other 12 years of the last 15.

30 years with 2 super bowls
he's brought 4 different teams to the playoffs
he isn't rebuilding here like he had to at dallas, and he already has a franchise QB. He had to go find one in dallas (who blew away that playoff win)

I think that is the Key, He doesn't have to rebuild a damn thing. Just come in with his experience and let the OC and DC worry about their own specific jobs. He's probably one of the few people Payton would trust in this matter to call good plays when needed, help manage a game with great insight and to not crack under any pressure.

I would really enjoy this. Parcells is a boss.
