He will probably still make more than Love depending on where he is drafted. This has him at #7.

Getting drafted and forced into a cheap salary is different than real value. All 4 of Bijan/ Gibbs/ Jeanty/ Love would get paid more than Etienne right now if other teams were given the option to pay them.

Right now he is being paid as the #11 RB in the NFL. Achane was projected $2-3mil higher than KW/ Etienne and will get paid soon.

You are talking about a top #10-#15 RB getting paid #12 money. That doesn't even include his usage and value to us vs other RB's.

That maybe true, but if my aunt had nuts she’d be uncle, but she doesn’t, so they are not getting paid as much as him right now.

I just linked a site that said he’s currently the #7 paid running back this upcoming season. I don’t think that’s changing this year.

It will change eventually, but that’s every position in the league.

Breaking theory:
Travis just said his last name and Mickey accidentally thought it was De'Von Achane and got overexcited.

Achane could get his extension any second now and make Etiennes contract look great.

In three years Etienne and Ellis will be gone.

Both positions easier to replace (and cheaper) than elite wr, and you cannot prove that theyll both be gone. Etienne is from LA lol, he may stay on a vet min if his play drops off at 31, and you know Mickey will kick the can down the road with his contract.

quote:

Shough will be under 30 still, and Pickens will still be 28 and in his prime.

And if both work out shough will be extended for a huge deal and pickens on the books and a huge chunk of your cap is gone. You have to let young players leave on their 2nd contracts and they end up being all pros on their second team, which has literally happened several times for us. Are you that clueless about cap space?

quote:

Even if we franchised him a year or two, we still getting a 3rd back in a comp pick or probably more in a trade.

And we're looking for a number one wr all over again. You have to hit on wr in the draft. Look at all of the past sb winners. All of their best wr were drafted.

Seahawks drafted JSN
Devonta Smith a damn good 1b wr drafted by SEA (with their best acquisition a rb in FA)
Kelce was drafted by KC
Kupp drafted by rams
Bucs drafted Mike Evans

You see a pattern bro? You have to win in the draft at wr to win sb. You don't win sbs paying your wr what pickens will get. Your take is dumb as frick as always.

Just saw his contract hit both OTC & spotrac. Looks like early reports of his contract were a little inflated as both are reporting the contract as a 4 year $47M contract, or $11.75M average.

$12M signing bonus, 2026 base salary ($2M), 2027 base ($10M) all guaranteed, and another $4M of his 2028 base ($12M base) was guaranteed.

Team could get out of the contract after 2 years for a total of $28M

That $11.7M average is 9th amongst all RBs "total" contracts, and 24th when looking at 2026 only.

Bump. Saw that Achane got his contract.

It changed twice so far.

Love- 4yr/ 53mil. $13.25mil

Achane- 4yr 68mil. $17mil

D Swift is on deck and will make Etienne the 10th highest paid back. Gibbs/ Bijan will break 20mil soon. It was a great deal for Etienne.

FYI, he's already tied for 10th (W J Jacobs) at $12M a year. And if you look at 2026 only, Etienne is 24th with a $5M cap hit this year

What makes you think Swift is getting a new deal this offseason? I know he's in the last year of his contract, but I haven't seen anything saying he's holding out or pushing for an extension

So we could have a good RB room and move on to upgrading another room.

Why would Swift risk another season without a contract after breaking 1,000yds and several comparable RB's getting $12-$17mil? I'd imagine they have already started talking about extensions and if they are far apart then he will probably request a trade. Bears aren't going to let him walk for what they could get for him.

Either the Bears pay him or he's traded to a team that does but I'd be very suprised if he doesn't get an extension before the start of the season.

Teams like Vikings, Cowboys, Commanders, etcc would be highly interested.

I get that, but at the same time a 1,000 yard season is probably what they set this contract up looking for.

He signed the deal with Chicago after a 1,000 yard season with Philly, and he's basically been the same guy with a few more TDs

1,049 rush, 214 rec, 6 TDs in Philly
1,023 rush, 343 rec, 8 TDs 2 year avg with Chi

That puts him 9th in total rushing yards the last 3 seasons ahead of Achane/ Jacobs/ McCaffrey. Basically the same guy would be top 10 production with more TD's.

He isn't getting anything less than 3/40 or 4/48. Considering the stat above and recent contracts he's probably going to be pushing 15+.

Its the perfect time for him to have all the leverage. It does not matter at all what the Bears want, several team are willing to pay him now and the option is to match or trade him before its too late. I'm sure we will see things heating up the next few weeks.

Gibbs/ Bijan are extension eligible this offseason so Etienne might be tied for 13th by the start of the season.

I don't know about shortsighted.
But you sure won't let it go lol

I like the signing of Ellis.
I like the signing of Etienne.
I like our WR/TE room and I think its going to very very good.

I remember every one said this about Saints Great RB Lamar Smith.

He was done, bearly average RB at best. Bust.

Then dude went to the Dophins and had Career year, after Career year.

Im expecting this out of Etienne.
