I remember every one said this about Saints Great RB Lamar Smith.

dude had no vision at all and was scared to take hits. Played behind 3 great OLs in his career (Seattle with Kevin Mawae and Walter Jones, New Orleans with Roaf and Turley, and Miami with Ruddy Nails and Perry) and yet struggled to even surpass 3.6 yards per carry.

I mean Smith was so good in New Orleans that we sold the farm for Ricky Williams...then was so good in Miami that they gave up 2 firsts for Ricky Williams.

Then dude went to the Dophins and had Career year, after Career year. Im expecting this out of Etienne.

His career year after career year he was averaging 3.1 and 3.7 ypc after he left us. That’s freaking horrible. If Etienne averages that the next two years, it will have been a horrible signing.

Carrer Years. He even made NFL player of the year while at Miami.

Reguardless he left the Saitns, and blew up. Big time. One of the best backs in the league at the time for 2 years strait.

WHAT? Are we talking about different players?

Lamar never even made a pro bowl. He finished 5th in comeback player of the year in 2000 (won by New Orleans Joe Johnson).

Is that player of the year now?

He has never even received a single MVP or Offensive player of the year vote in his career and never finished top 10 in pro bowl voting that I can see. Yeah, he had career years in Miami...but his career was as a mid-tier RB AT BEST

the 2 years after Lamar left New Orleans:

2000:
309 attempts (9th)
1139 yards (17th)
3.7 ypc (24th among qualified)
14 TDs (4th)
75.9 ypg (13th)

Ricky had 248 carries for 1000 yards and 8 TDs in 10 games (4.0 ypc and an even 100 ypg)

2001:
313 attempts (7th)
968 yards (16th)
3.1 ypc (40th)
6 TDs (16th)
60.5 ypg (19th)

Ricky had 313 carries for 1245 yards and 6 TDs. (4.0 ypc and 77.8 ypg)

In no world does Lamar Smith even come close to Ricky Williams or Deuce McAllister as an NFL back.

We are talking about the same PLayer, Yes Lamar Smith.

He left NO and Elevated that Miami Team.

Etienne will have a simliar impact. Probowl, player of the year, Career year.
Thats why KM Over payed for him.

He wil have the Saq Barkley effect on this team.

Yeah he won an award.

quote:

NFL Playoff Record: On December 30, 2000, he set the still-standing NFL record for the most carries in a playoff game with 40 attempts, resulting in 209 rushing yards and an overtime game-winning touchdown in a Wild Card victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Miami Dolphins Team Awards: For his efforts in leading the Dolphins in rushing with 1,139 yards and 14 total touchdowns, he was voted by the team as the Dolphins MVP for the 2000 season.

He set records in the post season.

That is what Etienne is going to do for us.
Book it.

Kenneth Walker is not a barely above average running back.

Also realized that winning a Suber Bowl or two may be worth taking a little less $ than coming to team that hasn't had a winning record in years

Loomis and co. did overpay for him! Kid is a good Lil pass catching back out of the backfield, and average running between tackles. But it's too late now!

Don't worry, he'll get hurt during training camp and be out the rest of the year.
