Because it looked like it got tipped on TV, but there was no talking about it or a replay.

I hope for his sake it was tipped.

It really looked tip. I even played it back and my friend texted me and said it was tipped.

The ball just changed direction so abruptly that it looked like a hand got on it. I know he kicks the shite out of the ball, so even a hand on it wouldn't stop it from going forward (See San Francisco kick).

I just want a solid fricking kicker for once!

That's how Hartley's 30 yard field goals look.

From now on we should just take a few delay of game penalties and set him up for about a 43 yarder or so. He seems money on those, like his approach is way different.

I had to watch the game online so I didn't get a great look, but was there something wrong with the hold?

From Jeff Duncan's Twitter:

Sean Payton said there was nothing wrong with the snap & hold on Hartley's 33-yard missed FG. Hartley's cryptic response indicated otherwise

Hartley said he needed to look at film of his miss. Us: "So the snap & hold were good?" GH: "LIke I said, we'll have to look at the film."

Someone I know said their mom talked to one of the Mackel twins and he said Hartley will be gone tomorrow.

I am pretty much to the point that they should just go for it on 4th down in the red zone and go for two when they score touchdowns. Hartley is really getting under my skin with these easy misses.

Hartley is too drunk and high from hanging out at the Red Eye and "macking" on barely legal girls.

I actually feel that the Saints would be more successful on offense going for it. If we played 3rd down with the intention of going for it on 4th down I truly believe we could at least convert on one of those two downs 50% of the time.

Edit Note: This is because I am frustrated with our kickers, not because I think it is sound football strategy if you have a reliable kicker.

No, it actually is sound football strategy for a good offense. The numbers prove this.

Except for 4th and really long situations or being backed up in your territory, a team(especially with a good offense) would have a higher probable point total by going for it on most 4th downs.

I wish I could find the website that had the numbers. I get so pissed when I see the Saints punt on like 4th and 4 from midfield. Blah.

Actually, going for it more on fourth IS a sound strategy, even with a reliable kicker.

BTW, I wonder if the Eagles will over react like you guys are and cut Akers for missing three fgs today.

His kicks are just...odd. The 25-35 range attempts never go end over end like nearly every other kicker. It's like he kicks the fat part and just expects to push it through, which makes it knuckle and look ugly as hell in the process.

XPs seemed to flip just fine. Not sure why the difference on FG attempts.

His kicks in the 30 to 40 yard range look like my drives on the golf course - duck hooks.

If you look at the two last kicks against the Falcons, the one he made and then the one he missed, and the miss against the Bucs, all three looked the same, kind of like a golf "smother hook" with a driver. The extra points look fine.

Dont believe the holder can cause three bad kicks to act the same. It's the kicker's mechanics.

It is nice to have a kicker who can hit from 50+, like Morten Andersen, but much more important to have someone who is money from 40 on in.

He has cost us one game already. SP has to be considering a free agent, if there are any.
