It would be foolish for the organization to not resign Brees, obviously. You have no backup plan and over the last few years have finally built a team to compliment Brees. Dont sign Brees and all that work would be wasted. Starting over.

We know that but the variable of money separating the parties makes me nervous, especially when you have places like the Jets and Browns who can throw 28m at Brees.

Trade up for Mayfield and ride that rookie contract to three Super Bowls.

The deal is getting done.
I don't get why y'all are getting worked up.
It could already be done what's the point of them letting it get out.
Let these other teams think they have a chance maybe both teams are fighting for the same free agent and they spend time on brees

Loomis does this every time. It’ll be fine.

Less than 16 hours before the negotiating window opens, no deal is done yet between the #Saints and Drew Brees, per source. Still time to get it done in the morning. Otherwise, other teams can start (legally) making their pitch to the 39-year-old QB at noon Eastern.

Only place he would leave for would be SD. He lives there in the offseason and his family loves the city.

Typical wishcasting.

I agree with your first sentence though. I think it'll get done.

I love Brees but anything above 20 mil. Per year shuts the window on us winning a Super Bowl. He is 39 and our team was run heavy to mask a few issues such as arm strength. His accuracy is there as well as the High level play on anything under 40 yards but we need to be realistic with his demands. We still have holes to fill. Need another pass catching threat, defensive end, and at least one linebacker.

That's nonsense. He could theoretically leave for anywhere and make an extra $8 million a year.

Already have twitter rumblings the Bills will be after him should he reach the free agency period.

I wonder how much the thought of the Brees' signing timeline vs first season ticket payment factor into things. If he doesn't sign by the deadline, do renewals suffer? He needs to sign by the 14th and the first payment is the 16th.

I am starting to get that we trade the 27th pick, next years 1st, and maybe something else and move to 4th. Draft Mayfield and starting next year have the money to resign everyone coming up soon for a contract.

If I am brees I dont sign anything until seeing offers from other teams. It wouldnt surprise me to see him wait it out to maximize his deal.

I'm assuming they have a deal almost done, but waiting to see if/when we sign our net big money free agent.

I see people keep saying this and it's more wanting to wish it into reality than it actually being true.
