I smoked for 26 years. I havent had a cig in 4 years now, and it bugs me in the dome when people smoke near me, but, i had the habit long enough that I can understand them lighting 1 now & then. I don't say anything

Just read the first few pages. Cwill, you come off as a ignorant redneck and I didn't expect that from you.

My attitude is what do you expect up there. It is unfortunate that he didn't know, but seriously, that is all most of those guys have - that Sunday up there with their friends getting fricked up and having a cig. I don't smoke but think all of this hand wringing and whining over smoking is pretty lame. And to expect all of those people up there to stop for you is pretty stupid. Like others have suggested, pay more and leave those hardworking, rather coarse people to themselves.

It's five pages because of Captain Badass.

Brad Pitt and Ed Norton are pussies. And you obviously didn't read my post thoroughly. I simply do not mind fighting, I have never claimed to win un-conditionally, I simply stated that fisticuffs are not out of the question with me and that the situation WILL be resolved one way or another. And guys like you, who think the dude they are in a disagreement with would certainly not resort to violence, are in for some serious shite when it gets down.

I'm sorry you are the all time E-bad arse.

I understand. My in-laws have had season tickets midway up the 600 level in the corner for a while now and when I go, that is where I sit. Lots of interesting folks up there, but I understand that this is their stomping grounds and I just go with the flow. Lots of good fans too.
I just don't understand why it is hard to understand the no smoking rule and abide by it.

Let me try to put this whole smoking in perspective. Imagine if you took your wife to a classy $200 a meal restaurant. You get to your seat, but despite the no-smoking sign on the establishment's window, you find you're surrounded by smokers. When you complain, you're told to "just deal with it". frick that.

You have to see it through the OP's eyes. He dropped down good money for the tickets, paid for parking, fought traffic coming and going from the game, and invested one of his most prized possessions- a day off work- to watch the Saints play. He gets there and finds people around him clearly violating official stadium rules which causes him discomfort. This led him to voice his disapproval. So what's wrong with this?

If you want to make a smoking section inside the Dome, fine. Put a disclaimer at the point of sale if your purchased tickets are in a smoking section. But since there IS NO SMOKING IN THE DOME, abide by the rules.

Dude, you need a new hobby. If given enough time and lube, can you have an entire conversation with someone using movie lines? That's impressive. How is the fact that something I said happens to be in a movie that you have seen have anything to do with this discussion? I don't care what the frick some dude in a movie said. These are my opinions. If they happen to be included in movies, believe me, I'm not losing any badass sleep over it. I pity you cwill. I really, really pitty you.

Is that in a movie?

When the restaurant is frequented by those who smoke and are hardly told to stop, most people who frequent the restaurant know this, and you happen to be new and want to change their minds.....frick that.

Lube? We don't need no stinkin' lube.

Damn, I feel small having an Ole Piss redneck condescend to me. I guess I better get in a fight soon so I can have a visceral experience and appreciate my manhood. Hey if I get three tix in that section where the smoking occurs will you and Jaydeaux come with me so I can learn from two serious bad asses?

I love how people on this board equate smoking with trash. Just because someone smokes, that doesn't make them trash

Yes it does. Smoking is and will always be related to trash. Low income trash. Look at 95% of the homeless population and they are smokers. 80% of the uninsured people in La are smokers. Smoking shows you don't care about yourself and the people around you. Its an addiction and show weakness.

+1000. Agree. It's not the governments (state, federal OR local) place to be the peoples daddy. It should be up to individual business to decide what to do. If the Dome bans smoking, people who do smoke should boycott until they change it. If there are not enough smokers to make the Dome change, then they are the minority and are stuck with the decision. Same thing for Bars, restaurants, movie theatres, etc.

Well since the Dome is owned by the State of Louisiana, I think they should have the right to dictate.

Bingo. Like the ultra-obese, smoking is a major factor in poverty rates. People that cannot impose self-discipline from smoking, eating, or other addictions rarely rise to the top of economic or social ladders.

You'll notice there aren't many 400 lb, sloppy CEOs or successful brain surgeons running around puffing on Kools behind the hospital 6 times a day.

Now you're being completely obtuse just for the sake of internet attention. Sad. Really sad.

Sure. But it'll cost you. If you want lessons in how to be a man, you'll need to throw at least a grand at me. I'll let Jay negotiate his own fee.

P.S. You might want to call up your dad and ask him what the holy frick he was doing while you were growing up. I'd be awful pissed if my dad had bailed on me instead of teaching me how things work in a mans world.

Come on, throw that movie shite at me. Which one did I quote this time???

I haven't looked at this thread since this morning, but it honestly now sounds like you just don't want to give in. Smoking affects other people. They have to smell it. Some people are allergic. It gets on your clothes. If smoking is against policy, when you pay for a ticket you have every right to expect the policy will be followed . . . whether it's a cheap terrace seat or the most expensive club seat.

You're making it sound like these are some noble working stiffs trying to have a good time who are just being fricked over by the elites. My seats used to be in the terrace . . . and it ain't that.

Actually, while I support the smoking ban and a person's right not to have smoke blown on them at the Dome, you are full of shite on this one. Smoking doesn't make someone trash. Only an internet punk would say something so stupid.

However, that is not what happened here or in this state. The govt passed a law and forced business owners to enact that policy. If you own a restaurant, or a public place that is not a bar, then you are forced to abide by an unjust law the govt forced on you. Such as the Superdome.

Hmmm, you're close to being right except for the "unjust" part. The Superdome is governed by a different statute and governing body. And the law is not "unjust". It's just this ultraconservative antigovernment attitude on this particular board that makes it seem to some of the more ill informed and less enlightened.
