I think if we signed one or both of these guys on cheap one year contracts it would add tremendous depth to our roster for the long season ahead.

Barnidge would be a nice alternative and smart player for a 2nd TE. As for Revis, it depends on the shape he's in as well as the mindset. It's pretty obvious he went to the Jets to collect a paycheck and not much else.

Barnidge no

But I'd be interested in bringing in Revis on the cheap just to see if he can make it out of camp. He might have something left. But I'd rather see him as depth/more leadership. I'd rather our young guys like PJ Williams, Lattimore and Marcus Williams emerge and play well.

At the same time, Lattimore does have the hammy issues, Williams hasn't played yet and Breaux is good but he can't stay healthy either. I'm down for Revis as long as he's there for depth and would maybe only have to start a few games in worst case scenario if someone was hurt.

Where are we at with cap space post draft signings? Should be close to $1M until Byrd is officially cut, right?

Barnidge was the best pass blocking TE last season, allowing 3 pressures in 123 pass blocking snaps

Over the past two seasons, Brown QBs posted a 111 QB rating when targeting GB 10-19 yards downfield (73 targets). Browns cumulative QB's rating in 2015 was 84 and 77 in 2016

In his breakout 2015 season, he ranked third in catch rate (60%) as well as receptions on balls 20+ yards down tied (six) among TE

Barnidge would be a great gamble. could turn into another Ben Watson deal where we bring him in for veteran presence with lower expectations and blows it up.

I'm the reverse, I'd have some interest in Barnidge but none in Revis. Revis was atrocious last season, he's made his money I think he's done.

We currently have $7 mil in cap with another $7.8 mil coming June 1st.

Draft picks cost around $4 mil effective capp iirc, plus add a mil and change for the 52nd and 53rd players when they start counting, and the practice squad.

That's puts us around $9 mil under, but you have to save some for injury replacements, and we should carry over as much as possible to help resign Brees next year and resign Vaccaro, maybe Ellerbe, and outside free agents.

I also saw young Browns DT danny Shelton came out on twitter lauding Barnidge for his professionalism and leadership

Think it makes sense for us. Give drew a sure handed big RZ target not named Coleman or fleener

Unless Revis has changed his tunes he won't play this season for less than 8 or 9 million. He can sit at home and make 6 million from the Jets.

Revis is DONE. He doesn't even warrant a conversation. Moving on.

Im all for Barnidge.

As far as Revis, I'd rather trot Crawly and Harris out there as our starters

I think Barnidge would be an asset to the running attack and could serve as a nice play action/red zone target. When he had consistent QB play, he was very effective in 2015. If anyone can, Drew would get the most out of him in the passing attack.

I'm on board with Barnidge at the right price. I'm interested to see any older vet DEs get cut in cost cutting post-draft moves. You're not going to get a premiere passrusher obviously, but if we can get a guy that can contribute off the edge I am interested.

Darrelle Revis would be like Champ Bailey if we signed him.

I'd take Barnidge in a heartbeat for a good price. Hill & Hooman could battle it out for the #3 spot.

Hard pass on Revis. No way would I come close to his asking price.
