quote:Either give him credit for this draft, or let him off the hook for previous bad drafts by blaming Sean Payton and Dennis Allen. He's either making the picks or he's not. You can't have it both ways.
We have our best draft in years, when coincidentally, an entirely new coaching staff was brought in. But we giving Loomis credit?
Personally, I believe Mickey lets the coaches make the final decision on draft picks. That's why the DA drafts were consistently bad.

Still hamstrung by the cap for at least two more years, and that’s only b/c Carr retired or it would be way worse.
Still crying

Good gm’s are collaborative w his coaching staff that he hired. Coaches have to coach and develop draft picks to be successful. More breaking news at 10.

I’m glad I was wrong!! I’m expecting a Super Bowl run next year with all this optimism! Can’t wait for you to be right for once. You were mia there for a little while after Carr and Kubiak didn’t take us on a run like you promised

Dont forget that dude Joe Mixon, who broke that girls jaw in college. Its all on video too.
Also the LB that the 49ers took from Alabama, dude didnt even finish his 1st contract.
Peyton wanted both of those guys

We beat the Giants, Panthers, Bucs (without any WR) and the Jets. Pump your brakes or you will be on here melting next year. The Seahawks and Rams embarrassed us. We are headed in the right direction for sure but we need a little more time and have many holes to fill.

Imagine being mad that the Saints and their rookie Qb are progressing. Touch grass.

Now that we have our QB, it’s exciting to think about building the team around him. Team needs a target hog, stud WR.

I have to think Sanker would be a first rounder as well

It may be premature, but it sure seems like the Saints can correctly evaluate talent and draft well again. No more cringing thru the draft.
I’m ridin!

Right? Complain about not having cap but be pissed we didn't go get a guy that was going to cost mega cap. xD
Kinda a catch 22. He royally screwed up our cap giving out horrible contracts and extensions for years. So we have no cap room to make trades or re-sign better talent. So I guess you are right when there’s no point in trading for someone like Pickens b/c we’d have no hope in re-signing him, even though he’s top 5 at his position this year and exactly what we need.
Instead he has to make deals like basically trading the better player in Shaheed for Vele just due to cap costs, even though it’s obvious the talent differential in the players.

ALL TEAMS have to do that. Look at the Chiefs. Even before Mahommes went down, they weren’t gonna make the playoffs. You can’t keep all of your stars with a salary cap. You have to pick and choose.
The fact is Loomis has managed a team that is top 10 in wins this century. And that’s including the Katrina year and post-Brees era.
That’s pretty impressive to me.

9th since 2000 in fact, with only the Pats, Steelers, Packers, Eagles, Ravens, Colts, Chiefs, and Seahawks ahead of us.
Team wins since 2000.
Team wins since 2000.

Sean Payton got them the winning year post Brees agaibst a 1st place schedule. We played some of the easiest schedules in Saints history and still had a losing record. In the worst division in the league.
Coincidently, Payton took over a 4th place team and has them in 1st place now. In one of the hardest divisions in the league.

Look at the Chiefs
Chiefs also went to how many super bowls lately? And have numerous hall of fame players on that roster. I can see them being in cap hell. There’s a reason.
Saints had zero players make any top 100 lists in the offseason. We in cap hell with zero top tier elite players.

You forgot to say we should’ve drafted some jabroni DE with two sacks

When he becomes a player in the next few years, I’ll be sure to bump this.
