I can totally see this. Selfish arse should have retired two years earlier.
Drew was underpaid give his production for several years and he never once whined about it.

Perhaps the salary cap could be higher, but then again it's never gonna be high enough in a victim/grievance culture like ours.
I hope you're not insinuating that A salary cap is the problem. The salary cap is what creates a league where every team could truly be only 2-3 years away even if they're terrible now, and any one of as many as 18 teams could win it all in a given year.
That dynamic is what created the most popular American sport and the financial monster that is the NFL. I'd contend that the salary cap is RESPONSIBLE for the insane salaries these guys today get-- even when they're "underpaid".
I promise you, there's not NEARLY the money coming in if we're seeing the "Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers and Astros of the NFL" winning the spending title every year and everyone else hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.
Unfortunately the NFL players and even big-time college players seem to forget that fans are more important than they are. "We" pay their salaries by buying apparel, going to games, and paying for cable/justifying ungodly advertising dollars.

I wouldn't call a first-possession Colston fumble leading to a 14-0 deficit ending with a chance to punch in a TD and getting a 2-point conversion "Getting our shite pushed in"
But that's just me...
But that's just me...

if they take friendly deals it screws over other qbs coming up
LOL, making 40 mil instead of 50 mil is getting screwed?

It’s wild to think the highest performing employee in a company should take a pay cut because the executives can’t manage their budget appropriately
Posted on 7/31/23 at 3:15 pm to oVo
At one point didn't we have like 1/4 of the cap going towards players not even on the roster? I'd say that is a bigger payroll issue than paying a 1st ballot HOF QB

How many times have you lost 10 million dollars?

I feel like Burrow will reset the market but in a way that gives the Bengals FO some flexibility. Like a 7-8 year deal that’s heavily backloaded.

My recollection is tha Brees did take a team friendly contract at some point.
Posted on 8/2/23 at 8:21 pm to oVo
Drew was a top 3 QB making top 20 money.

Brees was so good he almost got Jimmy Graham into the Hall of Fame.

Drew made Lance Moore look like a legit WR2.

What a stupid thing to say. Saints had Brees at a bargain bin fricking price for his market when they signed him on the first contract. He could've been a bitch about it but he played the entire contract out and got paid on his next contracts as he should.

He also made some remarks kind of mocking Brees and others for their efforts
And his team smoked brees and the saints when they played

Don’t fricking care what shady McCoy thinks

What ticks me off is the shake down deals that players Always get away with now.
For these purposes I will use a DE.
A DE player comes in and is offered a 4 year/$50 million dollar deal with $40 guaranteed.
You get that money in years 1-3 whether you have 5 sacks or 15 sacks...They are paying you to be productive.
So now you enter Year 4 and you want to hold out (Chris Jones) for a better deal.
Now at this point there has to be a mutual agreement...the team wants you past Year 4 and will make a solid offer or they are willing to let you be a FA.
There should be no holding out. You signed a deal honor it.
If the team want to extend you a new deal then Year 4 should still be intact...If you are due $8 million for Year 4 then you get $8 million in Year 4...You can make $20 million next year if they want.
