It is so damn funny to me how absolutely obsessed the media, opposing fans and even in-state non-pro-football fans are with Payton leaving the Saints. Like god damn he’s in everyone’s heads so bad

Rapaport has been trying to be right about Payton leaving NO for 7 years. So he’s probably wrong. But I pray he’s right.

That's what I was trying to get at with my earlier post.
I think this is literally unprecedented in NFL history. The NFL media has a coordinated effort to constantly put media pressure on SP and the Saints. I think it's pretty much every offseason the roundabout of NFL media tries to create this division b/w SP and the franchise/fans.
What the frick did the Saints do to piss off the NFL-industrial complex so badly?

We f@cked up their farm team and became winners.

If he has three years left on his contract, he obviously is committed. Otherwise when the contract ends he can do whatever he chooses to do. I don’t think he will just walk away at this point.

Ian Rapoport is pretty well respected in nfl circles though.
Orly?

Yes, he and schefter are the two biggest insiders in the business. That doesn’t mean he’s right about this but it’s undeniable that he’s one of the biggest insiders

This is correct
Ian may be wrong about this, but dont write him off as if he's some kind of bleacher report quack

I always thought when Brees left, Payton was right behind him.
You could see it on his face at times this year that he’s not enjoying it as much as he did.

This just feels like a media ploy to get him somewhere else. Im not buying him taking a Huge paycut to go to tv.
This is more than a media ploy at this point. He is really mulling things over.

I mean he obviously told people this was a rough year.
The only way i see him leaving is to go into media.
It does seem like he is just venting after a long season.
Dude looks like he aged this year.

Before Jameis got hurt, he looked like he was having fun watching his roster really start to click in all three phases. Then after Jameis got his knee blown up you could tell he knew they were in for a rough road ahead.
Sean Payton gets in his emotions sometimes, like after the "no call" against the Rams. He admitted being in a funk for a while after that season was over. He's probably just enjoting his vacation with his wife and wanted to disconnect from everything for a while. The lack of news sometimes fuels speculation by the media.
Fact is the Saints can realistically go on another championship run with the defense they have and a few added weapons on offense. Even with Jameis at QB, I think the 2021 squad could have made a deep playoff run if they were all healthy. There aren't a lot of rosters in the league better constructed than his from top to bottom and the teams speculated to be coveting him have dumpster fire owners and front office situations.

Maybe... But im willing to bet you get 2 different answers.
Ask any of these guys 2 weeks after their season ends if they want to continue doing it...ask him 2 months later and its probably a different answer.
