Future not going to look as pretty once we get compliant this year though. This year will still have repercussions for 26,7.

Hire Joe Brady, get rid of Carr let Brady choose his guy and see what Rattler can do for one year. Tank pick QB in draft Brady wants to groom ...profit

Right…because Saints fans would love a tank year. And that would do so much for a young HC just starting his HC career when he gets fired after said tank year.
Hire Mike McCarthy, navigate the salary cap hell for 3 years, then go get a hot young coach and profit.

It’s not going to look as good a Shanle posted but it’s not going to be devastating like many think.
2027 is the year the Saint will be major players in both FA and the draft.

Those 26 and 27 numbers do not count the cap that will have to be pushed out of this year's over cap, and it's only for a partial roster.
If the saints are going to run out a roster full of league minimum salaries then they have cap.space available in 26 and 27.

Your goal is to do what Tampa and the Rams did 2 years ago. Basically go with a cheap QB and bunch of young or cheap 1 year deals. Hope you have some success and then have another good draft and with the success possibly land a couple of nice FA.

Loomis will backload more contracts and frick the Saints.

Hard for a coach to select the Saints when he sees those Cap numbers for 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Whoever they acquire as coach…..
Please let Geaux of Carr…

Trade down. Don't sign any FA's. Tank. Rebuild.

Don’t forget, if post 6/01 move you have to move some money to 2026.
Cutting or trading post 6/01 pushes ~$30M to 2026 cap
Also, making it a post 6/01 move does nothing towards getting cap complaint by 3/15

Yep - maybe try to grab a few extra picks for 26 and 27. The main thing is to stop kicking the can down the road. I realize that the current cap situation is going to somewhat affect 26 and 27 but they gotta find a way to minimize that as much as possible. Loomis probably is not the guy to navigate that.

There are several ways to get out of Cap Casualty Jail.
1. Sell the team to a competent owner
2. Fire Loomis
3. Rebuild (It's going to take 3 to 4 years and good coach to turn it around)

It’s time to bite the bullet. Push draft picks for higher future draft picks. It has to begin now. You run with cheaper younger players. The Saints cannot acquire anymore high priced vet contracts. The Saints have to systematically eliminate contract mistakes.
Loomis wants one successful season to justify his management style of kicking the can. Loomis has let too much talent walk out the door. Some other GM is the only hope to make the proper decisions.
Fans will accept what needs to be done and remain loyal. Loomis speaking to fans in his condescending way that he knows better has to go.
Just bring on someone new that will outline to the fans what needs to be done to insure the long term success for the team.
The problem with a new GM taking this fresh approach in managing the Saints cap would entail admitting the previous GM made mistakes.
Mickey Loomis wants to protect his own legacy and is unwilling to admit any of his failures. An unwilling owner needs to step in but is afraid to upset a perceived family member.

All truth right there. Loomis being such a condescending arse kinda makes it worse. Dude acts like he won the Super Bowl last year. Like - bro, that was a decade and a half ago.

I feel like whoever is hired as our head coach is basically a sacrificial lamb.

This is Loomis’ diabolical scheme. Run the cap so far in the red that no one else will want to come in and fix it. He essentially cemented his job by making it so bad no promising candidate wants to touch it.
