Exactly. What's his salary going to look like?
I imagine he makes more in FA. Does he want max money or does he want to team up with DA and the Saints more.

Awesome, so we're officially the Raiders now. Have their former head coach, DC and QB.

And yet people will be surprised when we have Raiders-like results.

we aren't gonna win anything trying to tank this year either. we wouldn't be very good at tanking. we're good at winning 7 - 9 games. maybe carr and a good draft can get us over the hump.

This middling re-build/not rebuild is going to turn into a decade of mediocrity if they give Carr some massive deal. He would have been the answer two years ago and maybe this year but we aren't a few pieces away from contending.

Too bad we dont have your whiny bitch arse in the head seat we would have Mahommes and Saquon and whoever the elite playcaller is as Saints by now. I mean what are we doing not having YOU as GM with all your good ideas? We are slipping.

Comp is fine, but its the cap hit now, and in the future, which is the real issue.

Look at Derek Carr's win/loss record over his career. He's winning 8 games or less ~80% of the time, yet he's going to come here with less offensive talent and "get us over the hump?"

I’m not. We need a good running back

We need a QB, which is THE most important position on the field. If you think we should pass on a QB in favor of a RB, I have a few bridges over here that would look good in your possession.

RBs are the easiest position to find and fill in the current league. The last thing we should ever do is make decisions at other important positions for the sake of a RB

Why wouldn’t Carr just force the Raiders to cut him if he has a no trade clause? Saints getting screwed out of a pick, should be a free agent.

So we are gonna take a QB who couldn’t succeed with the raiders, and pair him with a coach that couldn’t succeed with the raiders????
I’m not excited about it but I don’t think this really means much considering the Raiders are one of the worst run organizations in the league and have been for quite some time.

for a super bowl victory? i agree. to win the south and maybe a playoff game in'23? we're only a few pieces away. if we had a decent rb2 we would've made the playoffs and won the division this year.

then we can build towards that in '24. we can keep "kicking the can" because we have an owner who will shell out bonus money to keep doing it.

If he doesn't that means he is ok with coming here. For the Saints you want to prevent him hitting the open market, because then you get into a bidding war that can bump up his cost or lose him altogether. This is why teams trade for players that they know will be cut, because it guarantees they get him.

he's never had a defense ranked in the top 20 in 9 years. that's how bad the raiders organization is. i don't look at carr as a savior, i look at him as a solid qb we can keep building a team around for 5+ years. you folks act like we have a bad roster. it's a decent roster compared to most teams in the league and the best in the nfc south.

we need a good dt and another starting caliber rb.

we want a single high safety, g and wr.

we aren't far off.

I'm ok with that
Younger and a better option than Dalton or Winston

Honestly,

I don't trade a damn thing for him. I let him know we would very much like to sign him and that if he keeps refusing to waive his no trade clause and gets cut, which they will do, then I would sign him any way and still get to keep my pick. I get that it becomes a bidding war on contract size and such if he gets cuts, but I would take my chances.

Carr has to waiver no trade, if he accepts to be traded. Sounds like compensation will be a 3rd round pick from report.

Pass
Only way I trade for him is if we move MT13 and do not give up any draft picks. If Carr really wants to play here he can sign here as a FA when LV cuts him.

If Nick Foles, Joe Flacco, Jared Goff and Jimmy G can get to a Super Bowl, so can Carr. I’m not a huge fan of his, but he was much better in a Gruden style offense which will be more similar to what he will run here than what he ran with McDaniels

Because desperate teams will be in the running and then we have a bidding war on our hands
