I like it...depth is no longer a major issue at TE...but the writing is on the wall, it’s Trautman’s time to shine.

We were getting a vet blocker. Gives us two things we needed at the position. A veteran TE and a dependable blocker.

The Saints were licking their chops after the Broncos cut him loose. He’s the exact type of complimentary tight end that they look for. Great blocker on the line, downfield and even in the backfield. Excellent hands as well.

Obviously, the replacement for Josh Hill, who had 116 receptions in 117 games played with the Saints. Vannett has 75 receptions in 70 games played in his career. Vannett is three years younger than Hill and a little bigger. Also, another Ohio State alum and teammate of Marshon Lattimore. Vannett was the 94th (3rd round) overall pick in the 2016 draft.
Josh Hill certainly carved out a nice career with the Saints for an undrafted free agent from Idaho State.

Yep. The Saints seem to have a lot of faith in Trautman, and I do too. Think he'll be a stud.
