Dude had 2 okay games against 2 bad pass defenses last season, was garbage in the others, and people want to build around him? ?

7 games: 14 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 102 qbr and most importantly a 5-2 record. Garbage? Yeah his numbers weren't astronomical but how may times did drew brees have gaudy numbers and we ended with a 7-9 record?

Now most will say " but the defense was bad , gave away the game,, etc... with reasons why we had 7-9 records and some are accurate.

But jameis can have a 5-2 record but is garbage? What does that say about taysom, Trevor and book? Atleast jameis had a winning record.

Wonder if that changes if we have WRs and TEs who can get open

Will we have that?

At minimum we will net one of the best WRs in the league

5 picks in the top 135
Restructures free up $100 mil in cap space

You’d hope to add at least a WR2 and another TE along the way

59% completion percentage.

Trevor Lawrence, a rookie with a garbage surrounding cast, had a slightly higher completion percentage in what was a terrible season by all accounts.

Color me unimpressed. Jameis sucks. No one is winning anything of note with him at this level.

Similar I see. But one is really really really expensive I think.

So let's go back and look at all the touchdowns that Brees and Brady threw and adjust their stats and discount their work for all the bad defenses they played.

Why are you bringing Trevor into this? I didn't compare jameis to anyone p

No where did I say I was impressed but I'm not going to hate my team because I have a personal dislike for the quarterback.

I know draft pundits are saying this isn't a good QB class, but they don't know. A lot of people said Justin Herbert wasn't worth building around, same with Josh Allen. Brees was a second round pick. Don't even mention Brady. You just really don't know until they see live action. Other guys were can't miss prospects like a Ryan Leaf. If we got Corral or Pickett, I would be excited.

Honestly with the coaching changes why is it a must that we upheave the roster so much?

Unless Winston comes asking for a kings ransom the Saints should resign him to a 1 year prove the knee's fixed.

Hill is under a larger deal than he deserves as a Swiss Army knife player (His best value is not as a full time #1 QB) so he's likely not going anywhere.

Yes early on I thought WTH, blow it up and make a fresh start with a new staff, but we have a deep playoff if not SB defense, we don't need a top 10-15 offense to make a run.

Here's a list of "competent" QB's that have won super bowl rings.

Nick Foles
Jim McMahan
Mark Rypien
Joe Flacco
Brad Johnson
Doug Williams
Trent Dilfer

These guys didn't get their teams to the Super bowl, they were good enough to not blow it.

Winston and Hill if both healthy and with a healthy team the saints have right now (Providing MT get's his head straight and get's back to being the best player on the field) Maybe fill a few holes with an aging vet or two with enough left in the tank for a last run or two, the Saints could do what those other teams did without elite franchise QB's.

IMO this draft shouldn't be about home a run franchise player. I needs to be about rock solid future player(s) to be the foundation for the next 10-12 years because before yo know it guys like Jordan and Davis will be retiring and guys like MT and Kamara may be out of our price range.

False equivalence.

Drew and Tom torched elite and downtrodden defenses alike. It didn't matter.

Jameis feasts on weak defenses and disappears against strong ones.

Never said you did.

Point remains you're waving the flag for a guy who performed like...a rookie who had a bad season aside from 2 games.

It's not personal. Jameis just isn't a good pro QB.

Playoffs?

Mac Jones was better as a rookie than Jameis has ever been in the league. Would be funny if it weren't so sad to see you losers beating the drum for Jameis.

Well we can say false equivalence for jameis not having great numbers compared to Brees. Not saying jameis could even hold Brees jock, but tge false equivalence is the fact that Sean never opened up the playbook for him. Granted it was part of his process to start by getting him to cut down on turnovers but how can you say with a straight face he sucked when he ran the plays Payton called?

Improvise and throw a 60 yar pick so then people can rag on him for turnovers or run the play his coach called, a guy trying to help him resurrect his career.

I’d take Russell Wilson. Some NFL analyst on ESPN thinks we have a shot at him.

Didn't care for his chuck the ball down the field while falling down stuff even this past year. I'm not sure why we keep acting like Winston is the answer. He's mediocre. I know if our defense holds together all we need is mediocre at the QB spot but his contract better be incentives laden.

Not directed at you personally, but the quote and general consensus of the board.

Some say that about jameis but act like Taysom is the answer when jameis had more touchdown passes in 7 games last year than taysom has had in his career and let's not pretend taysom doesn't chuck up free for all deep balls and a ton more money.

I don't think Hill is the answer either.
