I would say by tonight or tomorrow morning.
FA starts today, officially. You cannot tell Winston and Armstead and all of these FAs to wait for days and days.
You've had your meetings, make your decision.

As Terron Armstead's status remains uncertain, one thing to keep in mind is that his contract voids once the new league year beings, which would place nearly $13 million in dead money on the 2022 salary cap.
The void could theoretically be stopped with an agreement before 3 pm
yo deshaun, we kind of have a looming deadline here

Oh jeez. I did not know that at all.
That is...really not great at all.

Me neither. If you don’t get your hopes up you won’t be pissed if it doesn’t work out.

I don’t think it means they are being traded, as we have to get 30 mil or so under the cap to get Watson. So there will have to be a flurry of restructures which seems to be the case and is a good sign.

But we could be structuring contracts on behalf of Houston if those players are part of the trade package. I still dont think we can rule these players out.

Cap don't work that way. Trades need to be made under the cap and any restructure to a signing bonus is immediately due on the cap if traded.
If anything, we are probably asking the Texans to restructure Watson to convert his salary into a signing bonus so we can get him under our cap.

was actually hoping it would be Onyemata
There goes our Winnipeg Who Dat Watch Party bar at Thom’s Kitchen if true.

Not how it works.

You obviously didn't watch the Saints much last season. Yes we were fine against the run without Onyemata, but Cam had one sack the first 6 games of the season then had 11.5 in the 11 games he played next to Onyemata. The team was averaging 2.5 sacks per game without him. They averaged 3 a game over a longer stretch with him. Our pass rush is exponentially better with him and we're going to need that considering we just lost Williams and possibly Adebo.
How much of that also coincides with Davenport being in line-up as well? Honest question. Again, I'm definitely not shitting on Onyemata by any means, I'm just not as concerned about replacing him as others

If we got Peat's contract off the books that would help us re-sign Armstead
No, it wouldn’t. We would have $25M in dead money immediately if we trade or cut Peat.
shite, didn't realize that. Peat's contract seems to suck in every scenario

Just looked at the roster & found 4 big cap #'s that might still be restructured...
-Taysom Hill - 12.325 mil
-Malcolm Jenkins - 12.2 mil
-Demario Davis - 11.0 mil
-Wil Lutz - 5.57 mil
Not many options left to create more room.
-Mark Ingram - 2.3 mil with $0 dead money is another option I guess.

24.5 million between Hill and Jenkins?

Still a good player for us, despite what you might think.

Both are good but for the price?

Well in 6 years without Onyemata Cam had 2 seasons with double digit sacks. In 5 years with Onyemata he's had 4. Marcus Davenport hasn't been here that whole time and has been hurt most of the time he was here.
