Per Schefty

quote:

Saints have requested permission to interview Buccaneers OC Byron Leftwich for their head coaching job, per source.

They’ve also requested permission to interview Aaron Glenn

I thought he was in contract negotiations to be the Jaguars head coach.

Leftwich would be a good hire but I think it's all posturing for Allen

They could fulfill that with aaron glenn. You sound dumb.

Leftwich would be a really good fit with the saints. I think he will do well as a head coach.

Smart, young, former qb who knows offense.

That we absolutely shut the frick down every time we play them.

Sure they're good when they have 3 pro bowl wrs. What team isnt?

Leftwich didnt want Baalke as his GM and wanted Adrian Wilson. And I believe the Jags made that switch within the last hour or so

Leftwich will probably decline to interview now and work out a deal with Jacksonville

News flash. Good coaches also need good players. Didn't Payton have us ranked like 31st in offense this year?

This is your basis for the HC hire? You won't find anyone with a flawless track record.

I'm glad they are interviewing him, I hope they interview everyone.

If Allen wasn’t retained, really wanted him as DC. He’s the best defensive mind in the league.

Weird.

It would be mutually beneficial if the Saints were all in on Dennis Allen. Leftwich uses us for leverage in his negotiations with Jacksonville and we check off the Rooney Rule box.

But if we're talking to Aaron Glenn anyway and he's negotiating his contract with the Jags, why bother?

No, my basis for a HC hire is someone that isn't dependent on an all time goat at qb. That's why I'm skeptical on bienemy too. Sure if I had pat mahomes extending every 2 plays with his legs my offense would look great too.

Jason la canfora was saying that leftwich was one of the only coaches cool with baalke and the others weren't. I wonder if that changed.

Even with jameis and everyone healthy it was tough to move the ball without receivers. That was with one of the greatest offensive minds ever.
